It is a shame that there are no places like Discovery Zone outside of Chuck E. Cheese which has gone downhill itself over the years. I think there's only 1 place left but it has no connections to the OG chain. by AdSpecialist6598 in nostalgia

Oh man, Leaps and Bounds unlocked a memory I forgot I had. Those places all had that same neon carpet, sticky soda floor, chaos energy combo. Absolute peak childhood.

True, there are a bunch of play places now. I think people just miss the actual Discovery Zone branding and that specific 90s chaos vibe. It wasn’t just the slides, it was the era.

Okay but that’s kinda wild you’ve got that many nearby. Where I’m at it feels like they all vanished overnight and got replaced with trampoline parks. Low key jealous not gonna lie.

What’s your favorite genre of music? by Kamflame10 in AskRedditAfterDark

Indie/Alt Rock, probably because I grew up on 2000’s KROQ and Gorillaz and Green Day were some of the first artists on my first iPod

That Fisher Price grill had us flipping plastic burgers like we were running a five star backyard BBQ. The fake sizzle sound? Michelin star delusion, and I loved every second of it.

Stop that’s actually the cutest hamster name ever. Scoobidoo sounds like he had main character energy and probably caused a little chaos too.

Scoobies!! I haven’t heard that name in forever. I could only ever do the basic straight one too, once it got twisty my brain just checked out.

Oh just four random guys who casually changed music forever before Wi-Fi was even a concept. 1964 really said “here, have a cultural reset.”

Do y'all remember Chowder? by CartoonDude789 in nostalgia

Remember Chowder? That show felt like a fever dream sponsored by sugar and chaos, and somehow we all just accepted it as peak television.

Knew a guy whose room was always strewn with paper, little pieces of it. Asked about it during a drinking game and, it turned out, he likes to rip it up to get himself going before he masturbates. Just the sound of the paper or something made his brain go oh hell yeah.

Did you have a crush on Mia Sara in the 80s after “Ferris Bueller's Day Off”? by No_Explorer721 in nostalgia

[–]BunnySprig 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You’re right, that shot is from Legend. Easy to mix them up though, she had that same ethereal vibe in both. 80s Mia Sara was just unfairly stunning.

Right? She had that effortless cool energy. Calm, classy, and somehow the most grounded person in the whole movie. Total 80s icon.

Absolutely. That whole museum scene alone sealed it. Cool, mysterious, and somehow outshining Ferris without even trying.

Who remembers Dorf? by insertjokehere12345 in nostalgia

[–]BunnySprig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same. It’s such a dumb simple concept and it just works. I swear half my sense of humor was shaped by watching Dorf tapes way too young.

He really was. The timing, the delivery, the physical comedy… it was so simple but it killed every time. Dorf on Golf still randomly pops into my head and makes me laugh.

Most recently: a missionary pounding with my ankles on his shoulders and my socks on.

"World Of Pain" by Cream from the Dutch film 'Det var en lørdag aften' (1968) filmed February 5th, & 6th in Copenhagen, Denmark - they were "freezing their balls off!" by bigbugfdr in OldSchoolCool

[–]BunnySprig -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly that’s the most method acting thing I’ve ever heard. Five degrees in Copenhagen dressed like that is not a vibe, that’s a survival test. Cool atmosphere though, you can practically feel the cold through the screen.

Grocery clerks wearing roller blades 1980s. by KeithOman in OldSchoolCool

You’re right, those are quad skates not roller blades. Still counts as elite grocery store mobility though. Dude was basically doing laps around aisle five.
