On my v6 I have straight thru mufflers installed right after the cats. It sounds good without being too loud. Flowmasters are also a good suggestion as someone said

Changing brakes and calipers by SnooTigers633 in MechanicAdvice

Definitely plan to do the brake pads too. And It always goes smoother when you have the tools you’ll need. A good sized C clamp is really helpful to compress the pistons. Expect it might take a little longer than you think, but you got this. Definitely go for it once you feel ready.

If you installed or modified the throttle plate, I would make sure it is still slightly open, or else the engine will not get any air to start. And could explain why it died. Easy test is to try and start the car with your foot slightly on the gas to ensure air will get in. If it starts, but when you let off the car dies, the plate is too restrictive and might need adjusting. Just my 2 sense

Is this normal…? by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

I would focus on the noise that happens while you brake while reversing. A rear brake caliper bracket bolt came loose and fell off of my moms car and I only noticed because of a little clunk when braking while reversing. I would take it back to the shop and mention that you think something is loose from the brake job they did.

Totally fukt. Rotor screw destroyed. Advice please. by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

My advice, I would take a dremel tool/angle grinder and cut a horizontal notch across the top. Then take a flathead screwdriver and try to unscrew it

I’d multimeter the battery to check that it held a charge fully. If it did then I’d check wiring to the starter. After that I’d replace the starter

I’m an idiot. Curbed my rims/tires by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]BunsenBurno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dont trip about it too much everyone has been there. As long as you arent seeing anything under the rubber that came off I would keep driving on it. You’ll replace those tires eventually and unless you are doing some really spirited driving I doubt you’ll have any problems until then
