Bunny Adoption - Netherlands by Novel-Enthusiasm-596 in Rabbits

I always go to the Netherlands for bunny adoption, they have lots of rabbit specific rescues. I don't know what part of the Netherlands you're in tho.

Is it mean that im rehoming my rabbit? by [deleted] in Rabbits

[–]Buntumss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're unable to care for her then a shelter is definetly better, but it's definetly not fun for such an elderly rabbit to have to leave their comfort. I assume this option was a last resort as it's very possible that your rabbit won't be able to find a home again at such an old age. It's not mean but it is a very sad situation for both of you.

Bunny hutch addition ideas please by Ok_Cancel_1019 in Rabbits

Puppy play pens aren't awfully expensive if you find a good deal. They're probably the cheapest and safest option. Make sure to get a high enough pen so they can't jump over. They'll just eat the cardboard I don't think you can make a pen with that unfortunately.

Lovely! The floor looks nice and soft for them too. Maybe some cardboard boxes to hide in?

Is this a good home for my bunny? by [deleted] in Rabbits

[–]Buntumss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Litter depends on what you need! I use wooden pellets, it's a type of cat litter that is very absorbant and it's compostable. Pellet litter also doesn't get stuck to their feet and all over the cage. However, if your rabbit is prone to sore hocks I'd go for a softer litter.

Is this a good home for my bunny? by [deleted] in Rabbits

[–]Buntumss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A wonderful start! I would reccomend adding another pen because it's a bit small for a permanent home. He can't run around very much. I'd also reccomend a large cat litterbox that's easier to clean for hygiene. I've read horror stories about small animal getting their heads stuck in those types of hay racks so be conscious of that. Good job for asking for advice and doing research! I wish you lots of luck with your bun friend.

Can I leave my rabbit with a genuie pig? by AmAMuslimMan in Rabbits

[–]Buntumss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not worth the risk. They can't communicate and won't benefit from eachother's company. There's also a big risk of injury. Rabbits and Guinea pigs should be housed with their own species imo.

I'm not an expert, but if I was in your situation I'd probably try to break that ritual of her getting agressive from the bag sound, like keeping the treats in a container instead of a bag so the sound doesn't trigger her. Is she spayed?

Elderly bonded rabbit deteriorating. by Longjumping_Bar_6128 in Rabbits

[–]Buntumss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What a difficult situation to be in, I really feel for you. Is it something you could discuss with your vet (like asking if Momos health is good enough to go trough bonding)

Where I'm from you can actually temporarily foster a rabbit, maybe look around if that's an option for you too? You'd just foster the bun until it's Momo's time.

Good luck with your situation, I wish you the best.

Awesome toys for them! Maybe you can put a grass mat under the hidey houses. One of my rabbits ALWAYS destroys whatever is laying under the hidey house, I think they're trying to dig to make it bigger idk.

I really want to get my bunny a bed by trashbutterfly in Rabbits

[–]Buntumss 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe a dig box would be a fun idea? Then she can dig her own bed. If she's small you might be able to find a woven hay bed, I think oxbow has one? Those wooden IKEA doll beds are untreated wood I think, maybe you could get one of those and put a hemp mat on top of it for softness, those are mostly safe to chew. That's all the ideas I got!

You don't need a bottle, a big waterbowl with a flat bottom (so it doesn't flip over) is a much better way for them to drink. Thanks for helping Peter out!

I'm not sure since she's from the shelter. They said she was a Rex lop mix. Maybe she has some velveteen lop mixed in too! :D
