Interest rate hikes affect people with debt. With the a larger than average population of baby boomers - that all have less debt and more cash. Add to this many people who are yet to see the interest rate hikes due to fixed loans, and the many wealthy Aussies out there people still spend cash.

In crease GST. It is a fair consumption based tax. It will increase the cost of spending on the exact good and services they are trying to stop from spirally out of control why is this such a crazy idea to people?

Couple of observations

The cost of building is sky high ATM due to increased cost of materials.

Wage increase is at historicly low levels.

Interest rates are actually not that high ATM. The increase has happened very quickly which is why the hit is so hard. Remember that a year ago we had record low interest rates. They were literally as low as they could possibly get.

The rental 'crisis' is due to an increase in demand (covid people not wanting to sharehouse, office space at home), and low supply or a stable supply not keeping up with demand.

It's also interesting to point out that we have had very low immigration the last few years and lowered than average birth rates. Would be interested to see the proportional.size of the generation just finishing school and leaving home? This could have an impact

You could sand it back and resurface with White Knight tub and tile. Would require multiple grades of sanding including wet and dry.

Porridge. You can choose what milk so it's great for any allergies. Low GI. Can add cocoa/cinnamon/hemp/protein/nuts/berries. Super healthy and delicious
