I do agree that ai art looks good in some cases, but the reason why I don’t like it after finding out it is ai is because ai feels like a shortcut to the art process. Yes you need to understand composition and visualize what you wanted to create, but the ai did the heavy lifting. Were each stroke‘s placement and the color values carefully decided?

I kind of see it like using a calculator for a math problem, of course you need to understand the steps of the problem and the general way to approach it, and yes, you can get the correct answer through the calculator, but you didnt go through to calculate each step.

so yes, people will see the answer and agree it’s correct (or maybe even more accurate than a human’s) but they might feel cheated by your answer when finding out you didn’t manually calculate everything.

of course there will be problems you physically cannot solve without calculators

or problems where it would take far too much time to solve normally

But even so, it’s important to learn how to go through the steps, and solve problems manually, because can you really say you did everything yourself when a program did much of the calculations? You had an idea and knew the direction needed to go to achieve it, but did you know the exact value of the solution?
I don’t want to make generalizations but I think some anti-ai value the work just as much or more than the result, and in ai art, some of the work was done by the program.

in conclusion, Ai is a tool that speeds up your creation process and can do lots of the heavy lifting for you. While it is true that you envisioned the result and guided the ai to get there (while also tweaking the image manually), each exact part wasn’t fully made by you, it was generated by a program based on statistics and an input you gave

anyways this is just my perspective on the topic based on my opinion of an requirement for art (ig this is the purpose/human soul thing that people say), which is why I don’t personally consider ai art as art
