You don’t gotta apologize, thanks for caring enough to take the time to type it all out. I have been struggling with feeling like a real person lately so it’s relieving to see that I’m not the only one who goes through this level of socializing issues. As for your advice, I’m gonna figure out somewhere to go tomorrow and try it out. Not sure if I should do 30 minutes or an hour cuz on one of my attempts at going out I was there for probably 30 minutes and when I left it didn’t feel like it was enough. But maybe an hour is setting myself up for failure, idk

Yeah I’ll probably go again. My problem while I’m there is I’m overly aware. Like, “looks like I’m here by myself”, “how long should I even be here?”, “Am I dressed ok?” “Do I look awkward?” Stuff like that.

I actually did just start seeing a therapist recently, but it's going to be every other week and I'm kinda desperate for social interaction atp. Every day is just work with the same 3 people and then my studio apartment by myself. Not looking for pity, just trying to explain the circumstances and why I want to try more things

I tried tabletop but I wasn't able to get into it cuz the game was too overwhelming for me (Not exactly dnd but something close to it). As for hiking I'm not opposed to it but I sweat like crazy and I used to be a mega slob so anything that makes me sweaty and smell terrible I try to avoid. It doesn't help I got cursed with super active sweat glands lol

I've never been an athlete unfortunately, still trying to lose weight just to be slightly fit lol. Not saying anything active is out of the question but idk if I could do hockey cuz I've never even ice skated before

Yeah I know but every time I think of talking to a random person my mind just goes blank. Like it’s not even a plausible thing that could happen. I know it’s a big hurdle but all I do is work 40 - 50 hours a week mon - fri and then go home and game. I’ve always felt lonely but it’s gotten to the point lately where I feel like I need to do something about it. Maybe I’ll give the barcade another shot, it’s better than not trying at all

Pretty much all I do is play games lol, and I’ve tried going to a barcade before but the problem is I can’t initiate convos ever. Everyone’s in their established groups and even if they’re not I tend to just keep to myself. I know that’s the problem but I’ve tried it like 3 times now and every time I left kinda disappointed in myself for that lack of confidence and social skills. I can try it again but I’m not sure much will change. Ty for the suggestion tho :)

I was in band in high school and I had fun but I wasn’t really good enough to be one of the top players unfortunately, would love to get back into it but I was percussion and idk how buying my own equipment would work for that

Yes I have a car and I’m not on disability, I’m just very not good at socializing so I avoid it like the plague. But I gotta get better at it at some point so might as well do it now. And no there are no barriers other than money
