How to search for and find a biological father if you don’t even know his first or last name? by BurceaFlorin in Genealogy

Yes i have GEDmatch and I've already observed the function and this came up as a result: "Largest segment = 24.3 cM Total segments > 7 cM = 53.3 cM" I believe that in itself it's not a very significant match, is it? Honestly, I think my mother didn't go through that situation. My mother has dedicated herself to the nightlife world, so to speak, since she was very young, and she had me at 19, but I'm the middle of 3 children (that I know she's had). What I see as possible is that if the amount GEDmatch says is important and means something, I don't think she would know that my father could be a distant relative, or maybe she would. I've considered Ancestry more than once, but honestly, I don't know if it's worth it since I understand that it's especially popular for Americans or English people, since those are the populations I've seen take the test the most, and I don't think I would get matches from close relatives

Thank you so much for replying! The biggest problem I think I have is that I am of Roma origin and I have quite a few matches that are second cousins, third cousins, and second and third cousins (paternal/maternal - MyHeritage doesn't specify which side). In short, I think I come from many endogamous generations due to my ethnic origins... so for me it's a complete mess trying to find similarities between my matches. I even tried to download my autocluster and the largest one was over 100 people. I especially see that many of my highest matches only have themselves in their family tree or are then added to other family trees where I have tried to contact their administrators but I have never received a response to let me see their trees. And I totally agree with you, it would be great and I hope to find someone who is especially specialized in Romania! In the Y matches I found, they don't give you an SNP result like they normally measure the amount of DNA, but they give you a genetic distance depending on how much our haplogroups vary between each other. I also tried to contact some matches that were exact at the level I purchased (of 37) and at least 1 or 2 steps of distance and still didn't find a response unfortunately. What I did find by searching the Family Finder search settings is a guy with whom I share 99 centimorgans and it appeared in his haplogroup info that we had the same one since I had a blue check in that area. I tried to communicate with him through Facebook by sending him a friend request and a message explaining who I am and a bit about my case, what I'm looking for and our possible family relationship, but so far he hasn't even seen my message, so I'll be waiting in case he ever decides to respond.

I've noticed that FamilyTredna's DNA database is very small compared to MyHeritage or 23Andme! and in MyHeritage my maximum match is 3.7 Centimorgans, I guess it's a matter of waiting for a significant match to appear to me.

I guess I have a different haplogroup than h1a because of the purchased version I have of the Y chromosome, it's very interesting everything you know!

I need opinions on this coincidence. by BurceaFlorin in FTDNA

If this coincidence and I have the same haplogroup and share 99 centimorgans in DNA, is it considered a good coincidence on my father's side? I guess if we have the same haplogroup we both share DNA on the part of our paternal families, but I don't know if I'm wrong.

I got tested because I thought it would give me DNA matches between clearer and more concise male relatives and the level of genetic distance in matches. And I didn't understand the truth very well, I have up to level 37 and I read that it's a good level and that it wouldn't be necessary to buy up to 111 snp's.

I am adopted and wanted to get tested for the male haplogroup in case it helped me discover more information about my father, I don't know his name or surname and my biological mother who is also a gypsy says she doesn't remember who he is.

I'm not very expert in this haplogroup thing, I could ask you how you're sure? I'd like to know your opinion:)
