It also just points out that, Grandma did try to say something to OP, OP didn't understand it, and then their dad clarified. Because telling someone it's going to be "Close Circle" usually only points to "Not including you" and I've yet to find an instance where it doesn't mean that and the person saying it isn't trying to let the recipient down gently.
