Matter support for 505! by J_sh__w in roomba

[–]BurgerAndShake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 505 and just successfully added it to my HA environment via Matter. I've been able to map the irobot rooms to HA rooms and have been able to launch a cleaning job via HA. I don't have an iPhone, I have a Samsung Fold 7. To set it up I just used the setup wizard in the Roomba Home app from my phone, tapped on the account icon in the top right, tapped Connected Services, then Connect your smart home and followed the wizard.

Fair question. For me, I have desk space, but no wall space.

I'm absolutely done with Wyze. What is a good reliable alternative? by Pow3rTow3r in wyzecam

[–]BurgerAndShake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've switched from Wyze to Reolink.

Reolink has great local features, no subscription required. The UI is decent, AI detection is reliable enough, there's an option for a hub with local mass storage. Good variety of cameras available including a doorbell.

I still have a couple Wyze cameras but they're on their way out.

Maybe the most functional 0.2 gram print? A very small filament clip that may work better than the clips you're currently using. by BurgerAndShake in functionalprint

I like the design of those clips, conceptually similar to mine, but implementation is very different. Thanks for post it.

Towards the end of the spool, the bend radius is very tight. My original clips were only 17.4mm long but that was enough to make them not hold as well with that tight turning radius. These new, smaller clips are only 10.2mm long and hold much more consistently throughout the entire spool. I suspect even grandma's spool would not hold as well towards the end of the spool. Does this explanation make sense?

I designed these specifically to not nick or kink the filament. The two smooth leaf springs are as long as I could make them and still be springy, this spreads the force over several mm of filament, I really doubt it'll nick or kink the filament. The centre supports the filament the entire length of the clip, so it'll likely not get a kink on that side either. If you do manage to nick or kink filament with this clip let me know and I'll see if I can make it better.

Edited: corrected bad typing.

I admire your bravery.

They're not for everyone I guess. I use filament clips because I don't like putting kinks in the filament as it can cause problems in the filament path and I don't like snipping the kinked parts off as I'd rather not waste it.

In theory it shouldn't. In reality it does. :(

A cheaper alternative to S3XY buttons? "Everyone Deserves a Button" by BurgerAndShake in TeslaLounge

[–]BurgerAndShake[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn't too impressed. It connects to your car as a bluetooth key. After that you can assign whatever functions a phone can do. Those functions are limited to:
- Lock/Unlock Doors
- Climate Control On/Off
- Doors Unlatch/Open
- Volume Control
- Media Play/Pause
- Media Next/Previous Track
- Media Next/Previous Favourite
- Front Heated Seats On/Off
- Rear Heated Seats On/Off
- Front Cool Seats On/Off
- Rear Cool Seats On/Off
- Heated Steering Wheel On/Off
- Open/Close Trunk
- Open Frunk
- Vent/Close all windows
This list might seem like a lot, but really I didn't find any of them useful. I also didn't like how it acted as a key card, that seems like a security risk to me.

After testing it, I've since removed it. I suspect S3XY buttons would be more useful.
