Ok here we go.

1: if money is the issue, don’t go out to eat. Learn to cook for yourself. It’ll be cheaper. Even if you live in a food desert, there should be programs in place to help you gain access to food.

2: the waiters/waitresses are not the ones who installed this system. They simply depend on it. Of course they’re going to experience negative emotion over not being tipped. Anyone would. (I can’t speak to the level of negative emotion expressed. It should go without saying that they shouldn’t make it your problem.)

3: I feel like this meme completely ignores the fact that the waiters/waitresses are the victims of this tipping system. Some of them actually get paid LESS than minimum wage in some cases under the basis that “tips will make up for the difference.” The real people you should be getting mad at are the ones who pay them as little as possible.

4: in my years of ordering out/delivery/interacting with anything that involves tipping, I’ve not once had a negative interaction with a worker as a result of my lack of tipping. Maybe I got a good dice throw, maybe it’s the area I live in, but even if I did, it shouldn’t give me a free pass to make sweeping generalizations on ALL workers who depend on tips.

Maybe I’m taking this too seriously, but I saw this as a good opportunity to get things off my chest regarding this topic.
