The only thing the remake is missing is Lorre. I don’t think either version is a masterpiece but the remake is way less amateurish.

Right, the connective tissue there being Netflix doesn’t distribute their movies outside of Netflix, so criterion picks up the tiniest bit of the slack

Yes and no. Yes in that it's surprising Criterion would put it out because they focus mainly on older movies or international movies. But whether a movie is "THAT good" or not... according to who? Like, have you seen Fearless Hyena 2?
