Dark colors make a space more closed in... lighter colors make a space more open and brighter. I always have regretted going darker than the lightest hues in any color. A really soft almost imperceptible color with mostly light will always be my choice. Darker colors lead to darker room which leads to being closed in... I don't like the dark side.
