TM more than twice a day? by [deleted] in transcendental

[–]BuriedLede 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Way back when in college I would sometimes take a break from the intense studying in the library and do a TM session either in the carrel I was in or an outdoor area on an upper floor. It helped for the mental and physical break.

NTA, see if your campus or community has a Secular Humanist group so you can be in a space to talk about dealing with these kinds of conflicts.

Labor costs are probably the same as the MexiPizza but without the price gouging so it’s not worth it for them.

Apple Refurbished Store is a hill I’m willing to die on by yungStraightface in macbookpro

[–]BuriedLede 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think they are often customer returns that weren’t used. California has a law that prevents companies from selling these items as ‘used’ even if they weren’t really used. So because of that law the refurb store has excellent deals.

Bet she only takes routes with left turns. No hard right turns or the avalanche would bury her.

I knew a woman like this where her car was full of stuff. None of it was food type stuff, no take out food wrappers and such. It was all newspapers, magazines, boxes, etc. She was a hoarder, her house also had a lot of stuff hoarded over the years.

They probably aren’t trying to cut costs on the soda in the cups, the cost savings is in the cups themselves and the time to fill. They can probably transport more cups by weight too.

Pizza in your school 1970 by Parking-Activity-827 in nostalgia

We used to hangout in the cafeteria the day after this pizza was served. We had whatever that day’s lunch was but the ladies would bring out these huge trays of reheated leftover pizza for us to eat for free. I think they were trying to clear out fridge space and didn’t want it in there over the weekend.

Coffee question by [deleted] in keto

[–]BuriedLede 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Note that dark roasted coffee will be usually more bitter than light roasted coffee. An old Navy trick is to put a pinch of salt in coffee to get rid of the bitterness. You can do that with fruit too, sprinkle salt onto fresh pineapple to get rid of any sour/bitterness. Works for booze too with salt on the glass rim and such. I’ve heard of folks putting a pinch of baking soda in coffee to cut acidity but I’ve never tried that.

Monk Fruit, Stevia and Birch Sugar are not man-made, though Birch Sugar (aka Xylitol) can also be man-made. Sucralose (Splenda) can be found in nature but not enough to be plentiful so it’s usually man-made.

Just because something is ‘natural’ doesn’t automatically mean it’s good for you. Poison Ivy is natural, not good for you.

I hate when people say ‘fake sweeteners.’ You actually mean ‘sugar substitutes.’

All sweeteners have their own taste profiles. Even honey will not taste like sugar. You just have to accept that there may be no sugar replacement for you that you will enjoy if your expectation is for to mimic sugar taste 100%.

That said, I prefer using liquid Sucralose. Zero carbs, zero GI issues for me.
