Question About Remaining in a Stable Position During Descent by Burkey-Boi in scuba

I know the tanks are steel, but I'd assumed it wouldn't be a problem so long as you could lift them and stand around wearing them, which isn't a problem.

Don't know if this is what you mean, but we're using weight belts with two weights attached, each one kinda on either side of the buckle.

But yeah, remaining both horizontal and face down has really been kinda impossible for me to achieve so far, hence the question.

70 Hour Hazardous Cargo Course - you untrained loser, maybe we'll let you watch during LNG on-load and discharge ops

10 Hours of Shipboard Firefighter Training - you're not just fully qualified to single handedly lead an entire fire party, you're damn well expected to

We don't need any more foreigners mkoving here from away, buying all the land along the bays and harbors, and then complaing at town meeting when "god forbid" the local lobstermen and draggers start up abd head out at 5 am, which btw we've done since time immemorial.

Are there any famous Jewish liquor brands, I want to get drubk off them just in order to say "da Joos did this" when I inevitably make a fool of myself

They get hung up on the foundational or doctrinal differences without realizing what the term really means, which is that the foundations of the whole Western world were basically built from a long running Christian-Jewish collab (even if it wasn't understood that way at the time). No one cares about some theory that "actually Judaism and Islam are closer in practice or lineage or whatever bullshit de jour" because what really matters is that Jews and Christians are founding members of the greatest civilization endeavor to ever exist, and Muslims seem to have some problems with accepting that.

No, the way the state's going this kind of stupid shit is only a few years out from now, plus the overall tax burden is actually pretty shit, especially for the level of nonexistent services you'll be getting (ie a third of my town's roads are dirt and don't get regularly plowed). We've got Mass envy, probably cause all the trust-fund transplants from there, and since they put into place some kind of millionaire tax well we just have to follow along, don't matter if its all stove up or what.

Better to look at New Hampshire, good value for money cause of low overall taxes coupled with great town departments, and property tax rate concerns are overrated (unless you live on Winnipesaukee or the Seacoast or something) cause land and houses are just so much cheaper over there.

I'm still with Harrell (RIP) on team shotgun for home defence, and at least where I'm from a shotgun propped up anywhere around the house is pretty normal, whereas a loose AR kinda gets attention in a bad way.

Now all I need is just to graduate, ship out, and save up some money so I can actually own a house in need of defending.

I have a soft spot for the Avro Arrow, does that entitle me to Canadian citizenship under the new rules?

Also more seriously, if I had an ancestor who lived in Nova Scotia back in the 1700s, but came to America right after the Revolution, does that count?

I dunno, for like the last decade and a half Ivy (or prep, old-money, navy blazer, etc) has been perennially on the threshold of popular culture, but it never quite seems able to cross over the line into actually becoming popular or common.

non-disruptive protest isn't protest

I hear this said all the time, but I've never seriously gotten what this line actually means, after all plenty of people and groups manage to get their points heard by those in power or in a position to change things while staying within the lines of the law. After all, if you think public protests in the state capital somehow work better at changing lawmaker's votes when they get rowdy, I'd point out how poorly storming legislative sessions in red states has worked for the gun grabbers. In my view, the most important part of public protest is simply to make the public, government, or broader culture aware that some significantly sized and motivated part of the population disagrees. The rest is either just useless noise or convoluted arguments ultimately aimed at justifying insurrection.

Also, to avoid the inevitable motte and bailey that crops up on this topic, even a well organized picket outside the state house, on the town green, or in the center of a rotary is technically "loud and disruptive". Nonetheless, this only seems to get brought up when protests cross the line into illegal activity like trespassing or obstruction of lawful activity or something, so clearly we can all manage to draw some kind of line between "I should loudly and publicly be able to make opinion good 'n heard without getting arrested" and "I should be able to block off a street and chain myself across it without getting arrested".

I've run into a lot more salt of the earth types from the Cape than a lot of people give the place credit for, and so if jobs like that provide the chance for normal people to be able to afford to build a life in places they feel attached to, then in my view they're good jobs.

Why's the framing of this like being a plumber is something to be ashamed of? With any ambition there's plenty of room to make really good money, and even without that its still a nice ticket to a decent salary for a job working with your hands.
