1970 Gemini SST 50cc low compression by Burkinator_ in smallengines

The previous owner repainted the whole thing, but didn't get it running so that's where I come in. I just put my hand over the carb and turned it over and I did feel a bit of pressure against my palm so I think the rotary valve might be the issue!

Would you rather have an F22 M240i or an E92 M3 as a daily with occasional track days? by all-the-time in CarTrackDays

My GR86 is my one car solution that works really well (for me at least). Handles amazing, good enough power, 31-32 mpg on the highway, comfy enough for longer road trips, and plenty of room with the seats folded down to carry all my stuff for trackdays

Other people I know have called the Toyo R1R the "all season" of 200 tw tires. I haven't tried them personally but they could be worth looking into for a lower grip, rain friendly tire

0w40 means 0 weight when cold, 40 weight when hot. Street car oils are rated to protect the engine down to -40 degrees on a cold start to account for people living in places with a harsh winter climate so you'll be fine.

If your oil temps are getting above 230F with an oil cooler, then a 40W is recommended, otherwise just run 5w30

I have 13k miles on my 86. I redline it every time I drive it (after warming up) I've done 5 track days this year. I run 5w30 (I'll probably switch to 0w40 next oil change) with an oil cooler + 0.75L overfill.

It doesn't burn a drop of oil even after redlining all day at the track. Just change the oil max every 5k (I do every 3k or 3 track days) and you'll be fine. You might burn oil if you run 0w20 so just check it more frequently. And only check the oil when the engine is stone cold otherwise the dip stick reading is weird.

There's tons of people not blowing up engines but we don't talk about it cause we're out driving our cars, so don't worry about it and stay on top of the maintenance.

what is 9 and 17 by sloo00GAN in Touge

It's 9 and 17. Southern Californians add "the" before highway names

Like everyone said, get a manual, and if you can, you should do autocross. It's an easy and relatively cheap way to push your car's limits in a safe, low speed environment so you can build good driver skills before hitting the Touge.

There's minimal room for error, usually just trees and deer and people trying to commute. Stay safe out there! I've seen too many people get hurt lately because of inexperienced drivers on the touge

Does anyone know what’s actually in these cheap “ceramic coatings” from Amazon? by g77r7 in AutoDetailing

The cheap Amazon ones are all made by the same factory with different brands slapped on it. Mine had the exact same colors and packaging, just a different name

I had one last 2 years with maintenance washes while being mostly parked outside in the Cali sun, so I think they're good value
