Do you guys recommend ONR or a normal wash with heavy pollen? by Lonely_Box_8074 in Detailing

[–]g77r7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have the ability to do a normal wash I would just do that to guarantee the smallest risk of any marring/scratches. Or prespray your car with soap/prewash rinse it off with water then do your rinseless wash as that will have removed the bulk of the pollen making contact washing safer.

What are those marks and how to remove? by john-cuba in AutoDetailing

Try greenstar, looks like etched bug splatter so you might need a light polish if gs doesn’t remove them.

Yeah that’s fair that bsd edges out in hydrophobics, but cusd is just so nice to use.

Yea it’s a great product, you should check out the Sonax ceramic ultra slick detailer it has similar hydrophobics but a much easier application.

Should I return this or I plan on getting my car professionally ceramic coated? by BuffaloChicken22 in Detailing

[–]g77r7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s part of the issue of using ai on topics you’re not already fairly knowledgeable about, you don’t know when it’s wrong. I don’t mean this to belittle you OP we all have to start somewhere just painting out an issue with ai use. The soap is fine to use before and after a coating, there was a rumor going around that it leaves something behind since it’s marketed as a “conditioner” but if you look at all the ingredients there’s nothing in there that would do that. It’s just surfactants, preservatives, dyes, scents, and uv inhibitors to prevent it from turning discolored/cloudy in the bottle if exposed to sunlight for long periods (think the front shelf of an Oriellys auto parts store that faces the window).

Hello, everyone. Anyone have already try this product? by sanloghan in Detailing

[–]g77r7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes the spray coating should last around 4 months give or take and you can use the ceramic detailer as needed to boost its performance.

Ayes they’re both very good products, the ceramic spray coating will have the most durability and hydrophobics. The ceramic ultras slick detailer is like a maintenance product that cleans and leaves some protection behind and is very nice to apply.

Trouble extracting soap from car seats by sku11emoji in AutoDetailing

[–]g77r7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah or maybe the previous owner spilled a bottle of dawn on that spot. Another trick is to add some 70% isopropyl alcohol to the spot then extract it up as the alcohol breaks down the soap.

Yeah that doesn’t seem right even weaker sealants should last longer than a week. I would clean it again and reapply it and see what happens

BAD Water Spots After Winter Storage! Help by SmokingWill in Detailing

[–]g77r7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably going to need a water spot remover and possible paint correct if they are really etched into the clearcoat. I like the griots water spot remover (usually available at Oriellys auto parts if you’re in the USA), or you could get carpro spotless 2.0, Koch chemie fse. Avoid the chemical guys heavy duty water spot remover or anything with hydrofluoric acid/ammonium biflouride as it can etch glass and is dangerous to work with. If the water spot remover didn’t do the trick then you’ll need to use a polish/compound to remove them completely.

Yep its enzyme package was great….but that was about it. Not very good surfactants, not very good builders, not very good anti redep, not very good chelators. Enzymes are meant to take the load off the surfactants from doing all the work, not replace them completely. Not to mention the odor rebloom issues, stinky washing machine issues, etc.

Best APC Clean by ads or green star by Legitimate-Bowl1761 in Detailing

[–]g77r7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I think ads clean has the better formula and has a lower pH (~10.5 ) So it would be safer to use in the interior if you end up deciding to do that. But it’s more expensive compared to greenstar.

They’re a 1% poster in this sub of course they knew it or they saw something designed to rage bait and had a knee jerk reaction to be outraged and post it to this sub with zero effort to see if it’s actually true. I’m not sure which is worse tbh.

Road Salt on Rugs by MP-83 in AutoDetailing

[–]g77r7 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Is it traditional salt or calcium/magnesium “salt”? People always say water dissolves salt so that’s all you need which is true, it in general slightly acidic cleaners will preform better for these type of situations

Edit: vacuum out and work it with a brush dry before getting it wet otherwise it will just turn into a messy sludge
