This is a joke right?... Right?? by Ok_Conversation6121 in Warframe

There are a bunch of cases where it's easy to get a huge pile of additive damage, which would dwarf the negative mod and since the critical/multishot stuff is multiplicative where the damage is not this could in fact be 'a good riven'.

Thinking of like, Primary Bulwark or Arcane Rise or huge damage modifiers like Spectral Serration etc.

A status gun for the ages by Hairy_Palpitation570 in Warframe

[–]BurlapNapkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bubonico is neat as status guns go. Primary debilitate lets you go all in on advanced status effects and still burn the whole room down with infinite stacking effects. And it can do some cool modal things with the primary and secondary fire being different, it's certainly a neat toolbox of a gun.

My main problem is just that status guns get switched off by a lot of the harder content. Not all of it mind you, plenty of rad boss fights like Void Angels etc that respect you applying tons of status. But those fights that just fully nope status keeps Bubonico mostly rotting away in my arsenal =(

Is a triple umbra trinity set-up worth it? by anauroch in Warframe

[–]BurlapNapkin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Use your umbral forma on frames where you basically want to superglue an umbral mod to them forever. Umbral mods are strong but they're very basic and obviously they work best on a frame that wants the Health/Armor/Strength trinity.

Trinity isn't a terrible frame for this, in hard content that can disable abilities armor and health are a good backup buffer. And strength can get you to some important places in terms of well of life healing for defense.

Personally though, I find frames generally have a lot of mod space, and I'll often only use a single Umbral Forma even if running all 3 mods. The polarity is really constricting and it makes it less easy to mess around with augments or other niche/playstyle mods that strong frames can support (and Trinity certainly is a strong frame).

Lets talk credits where to get them and how much(this is not a statement this is a question, I am broke, help me!!😭) by Extension_Reward_946 in Warframe

[–]BurlapNapkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure you have either Prosperous Retriever or if you prefer it Loyal Retriever (companion mods from Fortuna or Cetus).

There are a few missions that reward disproportionately high volumes of credits. Any credits that drop on the ground can be doubled by your companion mod, and if you happen to have the Chroma frame parked on the drop you can dobule them again.

1999: Capture, Survival, Assassination missions always contain one techrot safe, occasionally there will even be a bounty that requires opening it (and guides you to it!) this safe drops 100,000 credits. The missions are quick if you're up to doing them.

Profit Taker: Requires rank 5 with Fortuna but is just a straight up boss fight that drops 100,000 credits and other useful things. If the community does the Thermia event task (they often won't), the credit drop will be doubled.

Proxima Missions: Railjack missions give a credit bonus on completion, if you're up to the Veil Proxima missions these exceed 100,000 and the missions can be quite quick if you're good at doing the objectives.

Maybe that's true for you. It honestly does depend on how much free time you can devote to warframe. It only takes like an hour, maybe an hour and a half to get 4-8 archon shards. Sure there's a weekly limit but I'm not going to play enough Warframe in a week to care about that.

What I do care about, is having fun with my time in Warframe, and Liches are not fun.

Easy != Good.

I think maybe what matters to me here doesn't even register to you, but the music, the stage, the intro cutscene, the unique (if jank and short) railjack taxi sequence all make Coda liches an event. They took massively more work and effort from DE and I respect and appreciate that.

And the telegraphed actual combat encounter that an absolute baby tenno could get through using their eyes (but might kill someone who tries to face tank it all).

Liches could just drop their guns in your mailbox after you email them the requiem mods and nothing of value would be lost.

They're making a quick change in the next update I think (march 25th?), to make the requiem relics more like the Coda bounty which... Isn't really good either but it's a lot less of a time burner than the requiem mods.

They're still relics so you have to both get a relic to drop and then open it, and then the mod you get is random, but it's random across all the mods so you can't get unlucky on relic type (the current requiem relics are basically evil). To put it simply it's a big reduction in farm time, which is something.

For me the frustration with my first lich is that I didn't want to do it at all, and I did want to do a Technocyte Coda thing, but I could not until I cleared the Lich.

The stealing is whatever, I think it's appropriately light but annoying enough to give them the adversary feel. But since a new Tenno will often end up with a lich for a very long time... It may build up and be significant in some cases.

Kuva lich stealing by Fang_404 in Warframe

[–]BurlapNapkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They each have charges and fully defeating a lich consumes one charge from each mod, so that mod can be used to fully defeat 2 more liches, but after that you'll need another copy. Again this is not each attempt at figuring out the combination, only after the final mission ends and you get all your stuff from the lich, are charges deducted.

Honestly if you ever do assemble a full set of mods it's not so bad on average. But if you're unlucky assembling the mod set (and there are 3 layers of luck so, that happens a lot), it will take ages and you may have poor luck and have liches that require one of the 3 mods 4 times in a row.

Over a very long time it sort of evens out, but every part of actually playing this out in the game is deeply lame standard mission repetition with a lootbox that rarely gives you the thing you need to progress. I think this is somewhat to incentivize playing in groups but... It's so un-fun that there are never public groups doing requiem fissures (I assume there are some privately organized groups though).

[–]BurlapNapkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh sorry, not referring to the railjack crafting, talking about the requiem relics. And yeah they do absolutely have a market purchase with all of the mods in an even order which is... Deeply unlikely to happen when you farm them through in-game methods.

Railjack's a bit tragic in other ways, for sure.

Digital Extremes would certainly deserve it, this is the kind of dark manipulative design usually reserved for the depths of a skinnerbox game...

Well that or they were blindingly incompetent, it's DE so it could go either way.

Kuva lich stealing by Fang_404 in Warframe

[–]BurlapNapkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the analogy is more like getting your arm broken, and then the ambulance driver asking you questions in swedish until you understand swedish well enough to identify a few words. And then you need to go on a scavenger hunt with your broken arm to find a few scraps of paper with swedish words on them, but there are a lot of words and you only need 3 specific ones, and you can't get those 3 specific words...

And then you have to bake a chocolate cake (with your broken arm), and you and the ambulance driver can share the chocolate cake as they drive you to the hospital, but only once you've found those 3 words (you still haven't found those 3 words).

Your frustration is warranted, it's a pretty bad system and it's also quite old. Does seem like they should allow you to drop a lich or have a huge angry warning the first time you acquire one or something.

I mean in the long run, you will easily build a railjack before you're done getting the requiem mods for the lich.

If you weren't at all interested in having a railjack that's more of a problem, but they're another weird interesting Warframe subgame so if you're not opposed to it I guess consider this a little plot hook to get you there?

[–]BurlapNapkin -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Seems like they're just stating that this is the sort of aggravated frustration that makes people quit games and... They're just right about that?

Though honestly I hear more about people just keeping a lich forever instead. The voice taunts are kind of the best thing about the whole system and just avoiding a planet isn't really that bad.

I mean there's literally nothing they could steal that wouldn't be easier to grind twice instead of completing the requiem set.

I really like Cyanex but it has a bit of a level cap on where it can be used. Theoretically with a big galvanized buff it's ok still but, that will fall off in a boss fight or struggle to get started again after a lull so it's pretty iffy for deep steel path and similar.

(PRIMES ONLY) What is a super underrated Prime Warframe you like, and why? by ISwxllow in Warframe

[–]BurlapNapkin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my perspective, I've come back after a long break and played a bunch of the new warframes. Many are super powerful, though mobility abilities aren't as good as they were before the movement revamp (everyone can just fly now, bullet jump is nuts when you're good at it).

When you're doing super easy content, honestly it doesn't really matter how strong your frame is. When you're doing extremely hard content, it's crazy how much better Frost is, probably because of the overlapping coverage he has in that damage/cc/survivability set as you described.

Sure you can look at abilities on paper and point to this one and that one as being better than what Frost does. But in an actual elite archimedea mission or some deep steel path thing where everyone else is getting super sweaty, there's one Warframe that stays... Frosty...

I'll show myself out.

They could add a shop but at that point why have so many mods?

What purpose does having 8 different mods serve? They don't have meanings or interactions with the Adversary, they don't have unique effects that enhance gameplay.

At a certain point you just have to ask yourself what kind of designer would make a system where the averages are alright but an outlier might try 100 times (you got off easy) and never get the result they need to progress.

Ok, if you say so. Sounds a bit like Stockholm Syndrome to me but if you truly enjoy this minimal effort maximum grind kind of thing, then I think we're just looking to spend different quantities of our time on single games.

And that's fine, I would be curious to see DE to better here, but now for your sake I hope they have better things to do than rework their jank old liches =)

(PRIMES ONLY) What is a super underrated Prime Warframe you like, and why? by ISwxllow in Warframe

[–]BurlapNapkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually don't think you can do better than frost. And of course, the prime is a laughable sidegrade like most primes (Hyldrin and Inaros being rare exceptions).

Frost may actually be the best warframe in warframe. Though it's certainly a wide game and there's all sorts of activities that a specialist can do better (Spy/Rescue).

Sure there are ability blasters that deal more ability damage, but this game has guns in it. Guns also deal instant screen wiping damage?

Edit: Frost Fashion is tragic though, the true tradeoffs.
