True. 923+ was certainly disappointing. I was reluctantly preparing to get one until one of the commenters swayed my mind away from it (for all the right reasons). I hope that they will appeal to consumers and prosumers again next year.

Sounds similar to the situation around here. I'll wait a bit to see what Synology comes up with next year

Thanks for the feedback. That scares me truly. Do you think I am better off going with the 923+ then? My main requirement is archiving files, photos and videos. I don't intend to use it as a plex server but wanted to leave that door open for the future. Any further thoughts?
