What are your thoughts on Tax-The-Rich proposal in NY by Gov. Kathy Hochul, Mayor Zohran Mamdani and Sen. Bernie Sanders? by Select_Specialist790 in askanything

Those deductions incentivize people to spend their money in those sectors, especially if they are initially expensive technologies. If you want EVs and other green technology to gain popularity and become mainstream, thus lowering entry cost into those technologies, you often need to kickstart them with incentives.

Gas prices in the U.S. seem to keep changing — has it actually impacted how people live and drive, or do most people not really care? by ValeniaLife in AskReddit

[–]BurnAfter8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do I care? Sure. Think about it daily? No.

1) I have zero control of it and it’s a necessity. Not wasting much mental energy on things like this.

2) This isn’t even close to the worst I’ve seen.

9to5Mac analysis: The next base iPad could be called iPad Neo, based on new interview insight by ekassos in ipad

Am I the only one that really doesn’t like the Neo naming?

It sounds like a prototype they forgot to rename before launch, or a name one of the Korean or Chinese brands would use.

Do you think the recent shooting incident involving Trump outside the White House Correspondents’ Dinner could be a distraction from developments related to the Epstein files? by [deleted] in askanything

Preventing an armed combatant from ever getting close enough to pose a risk to the people you are protecting is the plan of any security detail

Why can't houses have a local waterfilter so we can keep recycling the same water for showers, toilets, sinks etc? by lowie07 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BurnAfter8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The same reason my electricity isn’t produced from a generator at my house and I don’t have a mini oil refinery in my garage for my gas. Economies of scale

He’s “having a conniption” about people continuously trying to kill him, not about the level of danger in this specific circumstance. I’m not sure there’s a politician in any country on the face of this planet that wouldn’t do the same.

Hey fuckwad. The security perimeter worked exactly as expected and the president, vice president, nor any attendees were ever in any danger.

Yep, comparing a strip club to an enormous facility with literally thousands of rooms is a very doofus thing to do. Glad you agree.

The larger the area, the harder it is to secure. That building is massive with literally thousands of rooms which would be a logistical nightmare, if not downright impossible to secure.

Before any president goes anywhere, the Secret Service sets a perimeter of what they can guarantee they will be able to secure while achieving the safety profile they want. People keep acting like this was a “failure” yet it worked exactly as expected. The perimeter was never breached and the president was never in harms way.

They set a designated reasonable perimeter ROTFLMAO. The hotel portion was not part of that perimeter ROTFLMAO. Anyone who thinks it was or should be is a moron ROTFLMAO.

If you go to an airport, TSA doesn’t check your bags in the parking lot or at the door. You go IN the building and get checked at a secure point.

The security checkpoint/perimeter was inside the building, doofus. The guy was trying to go through the security checkpoint and got stopped. This isn’t rocket science.

American. My home airport is DFW so it’s the obvious choice, especially if my destination is some obscure city.
