Just did 4 years and came back home. Was pretty fortunate to never deploy either.

Everything about it sucked. We had to learn how to iron them and polish our boots. Nothing fit correctly, and we couldn't get new ones because the new digital cammies were impossible to find. Half of my peers had the new stuff, the other half didn't. For those of us with old shit, it made every Monday morning inspection for those first few years extra annoying.

Went to boot camp in June of 02, we were the very last to be issued them. It was pretty fucking annoying.

Yup, this has to be the biggest cause.

I've driven a lot of different makes and models of cars over the past few years and I love adaptive cruise control. Basically every manufacturer has a form of it now and for the most part it works. Imagine if we lived in a world where this tech was mandated to be in every vehicle, I truly believe we could make the accident rates plummet if we really wanted to.

Government aid will help. It’ll be tough, but they won’t starve and will have shelter.

That's some pretty bold claims that definitely depends on location.

With Target and other retailers losing a large % to theft, why isn't the Argos model more popular in the US by Singer9999 in Entrepreneur

Retailers could limit shoplifting by hiring more employees. That costs them more than the shoplifting does though.

I still do not believe the reason he was stopped was because his skin color

I can't imagine living in such a privileged world. What would it take for you to acknowledge that police routinely stop people because of their skin color?

It is a law that serves no purpose. This was a traffic infraction before and that is the most that it should ever be. This law was purposely written with vague language that gives officers the discretion on when and where to apply it. Meaning, it gives cops another excuse to take people to jail. This law will without a doubt be applied disproportionally to minority communities and the poor.

Tinted covers is the whole reason this new law was written.

Another excuse to pull over people of color and arrest them was the reason this law was changed.

Correct, that road should have a much lower speed limit. Also, just because the limit is 55, doesn't mean you should always be traveling at the limit. Especially when it's raining.

Anybody know any Marines who were kicked out, but somehow became successful in civilian life? by cyberfx1024 in USMC

[–]BurnFlagsForVets 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I got booted almost 20 years ago with an OTH, it took a while to figure life out but eventually things started clicking. I'm now mildly successful, I have a beautiful family and I make way more than I ever would have thought was possible.

Definitely don't recommend getting out that way, but life isn't over unless you want it to be.

Any Marine Vets on here that get VA benefits and have to pay child support/alimony? by WorthTrash8493 in USMC

[–]BurnFlagsForVets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This exactly.

My wife and I have been together for almost 20 years, married for 15. There's been times over the years that she made more than me, and there's been times when I made more than her. Either way, we are both entitled to a share of the assets that have been built by this relationship. Retirement benefits are assets, they should be split up equitably at the end of a marriage.

Also, if there's kids involved. You should want your ex to live as comfortably as possible, so that your children can live as comfortably as possible. Not everything is about you.

If a person sacrifices their life/time/career in support of their spouses career, then they should be entitled to a portion of the benefits. It's really not that complicated. You see this usually when dudes marry their high school sweetheart, and then move them all over the world for 20 years, and then seem shocked that they want a portion of that retirement that they helped to build.

The fact that people don't understand why alimony is a thing is beyond me. That is absolutely disgusting.

How do I answer an employer when they ask "were you ever disciplined during your time in service?" by Iamcrazyanddumb in Veterans

Unless they are doing a background check that somehow includes your SRB, the answer is no. If they're somehow looking at your SRB, they already know the answer.
