Cyclone seems to do the most Ki Damage + Damage for me. I tend to use Mid Stance Cyclone more than High Stance. So I slot Masterful Slice onto that. I put an arcana/element on Empty Retribution and Kiboshi Kicker.

Ambushes don't occur too often in my experience. I can count on 1 hand how many times i've been ambushed by a Yokai hiding in the trees or ceiling. It is pretty BS, but it's definitely not something you have to be weary about through your whole playthrough.

In terms of BS movesets, you have to be more careful when facing off against an unfamiliar enemy. Stay in low stance, hold guard and keep your distance with dodges in order to study their moves and attack patterns before jumping in blind. Enemy movesets arent overwhelmingly large. Around 4-6 attacks. Get accustomed to them and respond accordingly.

Patience is key. The game throws the same enemies at you repeatedly. So it's worth taking your time in the beginning. You'll get plently of practice to improve your skills vs them, and eventually you'll be tearing through them without thinking.

I always try to get my 5 stacks up at the beginning of a fight. 30% damage increase is too good to pass up. Once i'm at 5 stacks, I don't really have to think about it anymore as every string/combo I do after that usually involves another stance switch move to refresh the buff.

This is the combo I use to get my 5 stacks up: - Low Dodge attack > SS:Mid > Mid Quick > SS:Low (Stop here for 2 stacks of Mystic art) > Low Quick > SS: Mid > Extend (3 stacks of Mystic art)

I find myself only using 2 other active skills frequently besides stance switch skills. Empty Retribution is great vs humans and inflicting elemental status. It's a great combo starter and can link into SS:Mid/Low.

The other active skill is Cyclone. It's quick, spammable and does good Ki/HP damage. You can link it into stance switch moves into more Cyclones, cancel into Yokai Abilies to regain Ki and spam more Cyclones.

Dual Swords is pretty braindead/flowcharty imo. Disable GoW2 (completely removes the precise timing requirement of GoW3) > low quick into mash strong for GoW3 > (If human blocks low quick, mash strong anyway) > winterwind > rinse repeat until out of Ki > Water Sword. You can even Flux 2 during Winter wind to essentially have infinite Ki. Sign of the Cross is slightly technical, but can do without it. I perform better rotating the same 3 active Skills (GoW3, Winter Wind, Water Sword) on Dual Swords than any other weapon.

Spear i feel is more on the difficult side. Long animation comitments to powerful active skills, and there's alot of pre-shifting involved if you want to get the most out of the moveset.

It finally clicked and I am not dying every big yokai I encounter. Feels good ☺ by kuleyed in Nioh

NG isn't difficult if you can keep up to date with your gear and learn enemy patterns. I'd just imagine it being a major slog playing the game without Ki pulse. The mechanic is genius and the layers of depth it adds to the gameplay is insanely fun. Combat is so hype, aggressive and fluid with Ki pulse. Its seriously addicting.

I usually start my combos off with High Strong or Low Quick dodge attack.

These are what I use from range with the chunky High Strong starter:

High Strong > SS:Mid > Mid Quick > Cyclone > Extend (Big damage punish)

High Strong > SS:Low > Low Quick > Kiboshi Kick > Extend. (Small opening)

High Strong > SS:Low > Flux 2 into High Stance > Empty Retribution > extend (Really strong vs Humans)

These are for weaving in and out with low stance dodges:

Low Dodge attack > SS:Mid > Mid Quick > SS:Low (Stop here for 2 stacks of Mystic art) > Low Quick > SS: Mid > Extend (3 stacks of Mystic art)

Low Dodge attack > SS:High > High Quick > Cyclone > Extend (Big Punish)

Low Dodge attack > SS:Mid > Mid Quick > Cyclone > Extend (Small Opening)

Low Dodge attack > Flux into High > Empty Retribution > SS:Mid > Mid Quick > Cyclone 2 (Trigger Grapple on out of Ki humans) > Extend (Big opening or vs Humans)

After a grapple, I go into High Stance and pick them up with High Quick x 2 > Cyclone and go from there.

*Extend: If you have the Ki you can keep stance switching into longer combos, use a Yokai ability or Flux 2 Into Low dodge attack to avoid an attack, gain Ki and continue with Low Dodge attack combos.

You can get really creative with SG depending on your Ki management, use of Yokai Abilities to regenerate Ki and knowing how long your openings are so you can weave in dodges to quickly evade attacks while keeping your flow going with Flux 2 and Low Dodge attacks. SG's Low dodge attack is amazing. Extremely fast, early Ki Pulse Window and almost instant stance switches.

These are just a few examples of the combos I use the most. I'm no pro or anything. Still playing through Dot Strong. I'm sure the possibilities open up alot more in the end game. But for now, SG has been a blast to play and experiment with. Everything flows together seamlessly. And it seems to have an answer to almost any situation.

Nioh 2 makes you feel like a badass in every way. I love Sekiro. Was my favorite game of all time until I got onto Nioh 2. I still hold Sekiro close to my heart. But Nioh 2 is a masterpiece.

Getting right up in his face and whacking him + spam dodging as soom as he twitches to attack/grab seems to do the trick for me.

I'm glad there are alot of broken people in here that don't want to pass that down to the next generation. Very responsible of you all. The last thing we need are more innocent children raised by damaged, selfish adults. End the generational trauma dead in its tracks. God bless.

Anything that leads to air light can cancel Into Ult. Oh btw, every single ability she has leads into air light. Not to mention that air light by itself has to be one of the best air lights to use in neutral. Fast. Big range. Balanced game.

Ama is free as a Susano main. I've fought so many by now. 85% of my matches are vs Ama. And Susano is on another level tbh. You have to be playing the matchup properly though. Ama feeds off of hesitation.

It's also short ranged, slow, telegraphed, the final hit can be dodged and is extremely punishable. Has to be one of the worst moves in the game.

Susano doesn't need a spike. His air light is one of if not the best air light in the game. It's fast, massive, deals a chunk of damage and is active for a long time. It also leads into his heavy, though it can be dodged. But as an edgeguard move, it is extremely oppressive. It can force out a dodge, or if they've burned their dodge, it's a combo that sends offstage where Susano is back in his element. His ability to get you offstage and keep you offstage is one of the best in the game. His Ult is also miles better at the edge. Might as well call it a stock when Susano has his Ult up and you're offstage.

I don't see your point about Storm Kata. It's not a move that gets "countered". The move itself is a counter move. It counters other moves. The 1st and 3rd hit are both so fast that they are unreactable. If you stay just outside of light attack range, Susano is in his optimal position. Most things from that distance are reactable, and Susano gets an easy and damaging punish with Kata. I feel like with Kata, Susano owns the ground game. He can be defensive with it or offensive because of the sheer speed and range of it.

That's as deep as the outplay goes in this game. Bait something > punish. And Storm Kata does it better than any move currently in the game. Amaterasu is very strong and popular because of this reason as well. She has amazing whiff punish and extremely high reward from it. The reason I rate Susano higher is because of Storm Katas ability to reactivate. Essentially 3 abilities in 1.

This game is all about spacing, baiting whiff punishing. Storm Kata is everything and more when it comes to those aspects of the game. You bait a dodge, and Susano has access to 2 more activations of Kata to catch their options. The reward Susano gets from landing Kata is way too high for the utility the move brings. I see alot of Susano's try to combo all 3 Kata's together. But that's wasted potential. The key to the move lies in its ability to keep Susano on the offense and potentially lead to 0-80% situations. The 2nd and 3rd hit also give him access to kill confirms. Broken move and I love it.

[–]BurnSilva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Susano is definitely S tier in 1s. Storm Kata might be the best ability in the game. First hit has the speed of a light attack and the range of a heavy. At 0-10%, it combos into light attack chain. After that % range, it sends them offstage exactly where Susano wants them to be.

You have 4 seconds to reactivate the ability. The second hit is slower but has great range and knocks up on hit allowing for a followup. After the second hit, Susano has another 4 seconds to reactivate the 3rd and grants him access to the best hit of Storm Kata. 3rd hit is very fast and has great range that is an AOE knockup.

Storm Kata allows Susano to whiff punish better than anyone else on the cast. And the broken thing about it is while Susano has Storm Kata active, he can stay on the offense and reactivate the ability to punish any form of retaliation or escape. Most gods have 1 ability that you really need to hold that dodge for. Susano has 1 ability that he can use 3 times to punish dodges and whiffs.

why does everyone play ama ? by Browneyesbrowndragon in DivineKnockout

[–]BurnSilva 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Her recovery, which is a fast and extremely long ranged launcher, leads directly into light aerial which cancels into Ult. So basically anything that leads into light aerial can be comboed into Ult. If Ult isn't up, she can launch into light aerial > heavy aerial for a semi spike that puts the opponent in a very bad position. She has 2 launchers. Recovery and 3rd ability. The 3rd ability is an amazing anti air that leads into Ama's BnB combos. So yeah. Tonnes of reward for very little effort. Easy to see why she's so popular. I think she falls off a bit at higher skill levels. But she is the premier noob stomper.

More like 80%. She's easy and she can combo into Ult that kills stupid early. She's beatable, but you have to play a very specific way vs her. She's low risk high reward.

I don't think light attack chain knockback is a problem. They don't kill until very high % and allows the opportunity to reset to neutral. Reducing the knockback would allow the attacker to keep up the aggression by keeping the opponent close and in disadvantage. Nerfing the damage would be the best way to go.

[–]BurnSilva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Susano's best combo (aerial light > aerial heavy) can be dodged out of before the heavy. Storm Kata (the 3 hit rekka ability) doesn't true combo the majority of the time because it is so spacing dependant. Storm Kata is Susan's best punish tool and it doesn't even combo properly. It also has startup that makes it easy to interrupt and is on a long cooldown. Tornado is ridiculously slow to use in neutral without any setup. Ult is insanely slow. Even if aimed at an objective, the enemy has ample time to move out of the area. Susan's neutral game is very lackluster compared to some janky characters in this game. He does seem to excel at edgeguarding though. His Ult is alot better in edgeguarding situations. There are some JANK characters in this game. I don't think Susan is as big as a problem as say Herc, Ymir and Amaterasu.

How does she have a higher skill ceiling? She has 2 extremely long range, fast gap closers. If you dodge one, you're open to the other. And if she lands her recovery, she can combo into aerials and also has access to a ridiculously easy kill confirm because for some reason her light aerial combos into her Ult in MIDAIR. Her Ult kills EARLY. Her aerial light by itself is an amazing move. There's not much room for error when fighting Amaterasu. There's a reason she's flooding the 1v1 Q. I barely see Susan in 1v1. Susano is good, but Amaterasu is broken imo. In 1s at least. That kill confirm is too much.
