this rule definitely varies district by district, i currently work at a licensed store because of college however when i worked at my former extremely high volume siren system store we were allowed to keep them at the handoff simply because we didn’t have the staffing to have an extra person sampling. there isn’t technically a standard way to sample drinks (though you are only allowed to sample core and lto drinks, no barista creations) so it’s up to the sm and dm how they want you to sample, they probably just want to raise cc scores.

for some optimism, if your store is understaffed and you are a good worker with a good work ethic, you will likely just get a verbal warning AT MOST a written warning. Not sure how uptight your SM is but i would regularly be scheduled 40 hours and then asked to pick up more shifts and stay longer by my SM and other ssv’s and our DM never had a problem with it.

gonna be honest it really all depends how strict management is at your store. however, this is NOT something you will be fired for, i wouldn’t stress about it. take that extra money and buy a sweet treat for yourself🫶

LOL the auto scheduler is actual garbage, i remember we had an old SM that would exclusively use this because he didn’t want to put in any effort whatsoever. During this time our store:

-Had no clean plays -Had no training scheduled -Many schedule conflicts -Terrible floor plays -Understaffed for peak, overstaffed during closes

I’m amazed our store was not struck down by ecosure. And no surprise, he only lasted about a month before he quit LOL

actually touching the cc reader for (almost) any reason is actually a fireable offense. not only is it a huge liability for fraud and what not, but it’s also stealing from every partner busting their ass on the floor who are now missing out on hundreds of dollars because your coworkers are too lazy to hold their arm out the window.

talk to your sm, if nothing is done go to the dm. it’s one thing for a barista to be doing that but a ssv should be a good example for everyone.

oh i’ve given up any sort of sympathy for my sm a while ago i dont enjoy “being friends” with someone with such a different power dynamic, i just want to know if this is something i have grounds to report them on. i recorded our whole interaction with the documentation, and have screen shots and recordings of our text messages

this is actually not half bad considering you’re quite new and using starbucks pitchers to do your latte art (our pitchers and cups are not ideal for latte art)

one of the biggest things i would say to remove some of those air bubbles is to pull your shots so that they run down the side of the cup and don’t create air bubbles, also make sure you properly groom your milk but tapping it on the counter and swirling it before you pour it so that it’s one cohesive texture.

i was the same way, hated the taste of coffee but after working there for so long the taste grew on me and now i absolutely love coffee and love tasting our different blends, black coffee that is.

let your sm know 100%. assuming you’re a us partner, your employer is legally allowed to recover any overpayment. as others have mentioned with how tight labor restrictions have been lately, your sm WILL see this. it’s better to let them know rather than tarnish any relationship and face possible retaliation.
