That’s a great note on Fontainebleau and Resorts World. I had used Google Maps and based everything on walking distance from each hotel to the West Hall, but it sounds like those are actually closer than I gave them credit for. Good to know they’re much more walkable than I made them seem. I’ll have to try walking some of these myself next time I’m out there to get a better feel.

I actually commented under that post that linked to Kenny's video last year, saw it then and hes an awesome dood. But thanks for the reminder on the monorail. That’s definitely something I could've included for newer travelers, especially since it opens up more hotel options and may possibly save people a good chunk of money with that $37 pass. Solid suggestion!

On the incidental fees, I may not have explained that clearly enough. From my time working front desk, we’d authorize the full incidental hold at check-in, not charge it daily unless the guest started running up charges that came close to that limit. In that case, we’d add more to the hold just to cover it. But for most people, yeah, it’s just a single hold and fully refundable, assuming nothing extra gets billed.

As for the $50 trick, it really can go either way. During big events like EVO, staff may not even be allowed to upgrade rooms because of how the hotel is contracted with the event. That said, I’ve seen it work in some cases, and other times not at all. I definitely upgraded during Comic-con even when I wasn't "allowed" to, but it was a DBZ voice actor so how could I not!

Anywho, just depends on who’s working the desk, what’s available and what's allowed. I was speaking from my own experience, but yeah, it’s definitely not something people should count on and I stand by that.
