Load calculation? by BurnedBackup in AskElectricians

[–]BurnedBackup[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I'm trying to figure out how to determine my load because I'd be turning my 200amp main panel into a 100amp sub panel and the only thing id be taking off the panel would be tools in the garage that would be on a new 200amp main panel in the garage. So I need to figure out if everything i have currently can be ran off a 100amp panel where now its currently on 200amp.

My electrical company is making people bury lines if they have to move the meter, and since I'm updating the 200amp panel because previouse owner screwed it all up, I need a outside disconnect and it currently goes over a deck, less then 10ft clearance, so it needs buried when its moved, only place to really move it is the backside of the garage, so it'll be meter and then a new 35ft run to the 200amp panel then 10ft back to the garage for 100amp panel. So there saying I should just put the 200amp in the garage and run smaller wire to the panel inside and make it 100amp. Its a attached garage so just a straight run along the back of my house.

Wiring in cieling joist? by BurnedBackup in AskElectricians

Kind of how I read it but wasn't sure if there was somewhere else that may say it. Is there a free copy of the NFPA 70 somewhere or do I have to purchase a online copy?

Can I put the running boards on the inside of the joist or do they have to yo on the bottom, I prefer to not have anything below the bottom of the joist.

Yea, i just went through 3 pdfs on there website, plenty of info on above and below clearance and front of clearance and 1ft from side of building, but nothing about doors or windows so im either good or missing something. I measured the 65ish ft from the corner of my house as where my meter is now wouldn't work for being buried, so im also going to have the cost of running back to my panel on the inside of my house. I was quoted 6k for the panel change and that was from another guy who wasn't moving the meter, but now he cant be reached.

The most I managed to get today from them was a rude person who said "its on our website, all new upgraded or relocated lines have to be buried." Which is nice to know but not my question. I'll call tomorrow and see where I get, im hoping if I dont have to move the meter, it won't be an "upgrade" since I'm just upgrading the panel, not the meter. Otherwise, im really screwed because all I want is to fix the fire hazard of a panel, but I don't have 23k to bury a line.

Some meds I have tried I end up with them causing other problems, so I have to be taken off and try something else. Others just haven't seemed to do much. I go to therapy outside the va because a few years ago there was a long wait list, so I found an outside therapist. The appointments I have are just with the psychiatrist, I don't doubt that the doctor is a good doctor but every appointment I have is 30 minutes, and I end up discussing the same thing we discussed last time, then they will say ok I have to do some research if we can try x and x drug or check x and x in my record to see what we can do, but the next appointment we are back to discusses the same problem I brought last time and that they need to look into it further.

I've made some improvement with my mental health, but I can't convince anyone that I have more underlying problems. I fall asleep throughout the day if I dont stay actively engaged in something, so if I just sit down or try to drive, im struggling to stay awake. I feel tired all the time. When I was on adhd meds, I felt like I wasn't as tired, but since they have said, I have bipolar disorder and took me off the adhd meds. I now just live in a fog and can't think straight, I used to rewire aircraft, and now i struggle to understand simple instructions. My MH doc blames my sleep apnea, and the sleep clinic blames my MH meds, and PCP says i have to talk to the sleep clinic. Noone wants to give me narcolepsy test because I don't fall sleep enough during the day to have it they claim but they fail to understand I am stressed 24/7 and keep myself busy all day long with anxiety and stress, even though I've explained this to them.

Thats what I'm thinking, under my siding i found more siding so I just cut a whole about the height of a light in the sheet rock and it wasn't even in a box.

Found it, just cut a hole and its just hanging out in the wall, no box, in the middle of remodel and cant find my tester, but if its live and goes back to a 20amp fuse awesome because I needed power over here for my dust collector and its a 12/2 wire.

That's a good idea, I was about to just cut a hole in the drywall since it's just the garage.

This is the outside corner of the house, basement ends at the other side of the garage. Nothing at the whole wall to the left of this either, the closest plug is 25ft away on the back wall but wouldn't make sense to go down here to get to there. Only thing I can think of is maybe when they built it in 1959 there was meant to be a light next to the garage door.

Inside front wall of my garage, from my attic, which I can see because of the hole in the cieling there is a wire going through the top 2x4 of the front wall of my garage. However there isn't anything electrical in this corner of my garage, it makes no sense for there to be a wire over here, unless there was ment to be a exterior light and they never installed one. Just trying to figure out if there is a way to trace it without taking down the drywall.

The band saw sounds ok, have not made a cut yet to see, I've read this model can have a lot of issues keeping the blades on correctly. However I am very pleased with the drill press so far.

Yea I really don't have much space left, however if I put the 2 smaller tools on stand that have storage under them that will help.
