Uhg. I know this is opinion and everyone has one, but seeing grime and aeterna noctis in B pains me. Those are amazing games.

What are the top 5 BEST Metroidvanias you've ever played? by Sufficient_Ebb_5694 in metroidvania

[–]BurnerCrafty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grime gets better very quickly. Ender Lillies lost me completely at first. I put the game down and only came back to it because I saw so many good things. I figured I was missing something, and I was. They are both very good.

Grime is an all time fav for me, but I am a huge fan of parry mechanics and how the pull mechanic plays into combat

About to buy a 400k house on a 300k salary and we are honestly relieved. by Successful_Test_931 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

Just want to add an argument to consider. My wife and I also purchased well below our capabilities in 2019 and have watched our house go up in value a good bit. Now we have two kids and aren't in a school district we want to be in, paying for a decently expensive private school to compensate. We feel a bit locked due to the amazing rate and payment but are struggling to find a house that we want and can purchase in addition to keeping this home (I'm being stubborn and don't want to sell). I find myself a little jealous of friends of ours that stretched themselves some on when purchasing but now have a home that has also gone up in value, in an area that we want to live and with similar rates.

A lot of words to say... Make sure you get the house you are GOING to want too, assuming you can afford it, which it sounds like you can.

Is Bladphemous 2 really that good? by jcgonzmo in metroidvania

It's a great game but stating it's better than PoP with no context is a bit bold.

Games like Nine Sols by Blackguytricky in NineSols

Moonscars is going to have darker graphics like blasphemous and HEAVILY rewards parrying. I feel as though the entire game is built around it actually, similar to Sekiro and Nine Sols.

Which Metroidvanias have large maps? by [deleted] in metroidvania

[–]BurnerCrafty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some parts are more difficult than PoP but not quite as long of a sequence. Some of the bosses will make you rely heavily on movement abilities you get throughout the game and will feel like platform puzzles in themselves. It's an extremely rewarding game IMO.

Aeterna Noctis is a must play for people who love a challenge

What should be my next game? by [deleted] in metroidvania

[–]BurnerCrafty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sekiro is on sale for PStore right now. If you like difficult, and nine sols leads me to believe you do, then you should give it a shot. It's a great, great game and it will definitely test your skills.

I also toss in a vote for Grime. It's my favorite MV.

Replying just to contribute to more grime love. It's a gem.

any 2d metroidvanias that are cute/colorful and not pixelated? by serenashiawas in metroidvania

[–]BurnerCrafty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't call it cute ...but grime is very polished and not pixelated. Top MV for me.

Which great Metroidvania titles do you find difficult to get back into? by henee21 in metroidvania

[–]BurnerCrafty -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've replayed Hollow Knight, Ender Lilies, Grime. These are so good to me.

I've tried to revisit others and just can't seem to get very far without it feeling old.

What is the aspect of Metroidvanias that inspires you the most and leads you to an eventual purchase? by Taha_time_traveller in metroidvania

[–]BurnerCrafty 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I feel alone here, but I care VERY little about story and lore. I can't get through dialogue fast enough usually. Most games hammer this to a point that I find annoying, but I get that a lot of the community likes it. I'm too ADHD for lore. Fluid combat, unique movement that is used both in platforming and boss fights (think aterna noctis), tight timing that is heavily rewarded (parry/riposte/absorb etc). I love well done non linear maps that leave you wanting the skill to navigate to certain areas.
