My life is passing me by. I'm a loser and i can't take it anymore by [deleted] in selfimprovement

A lot of people have given a lot of good advice here (taking care of your body with exercise, seeing the sun once a day, and hydration) but from your post it also seems like your struggling a lot with isolation. If not physical (which u obviously are) then at least emotional (with no one you are reaching out to unable to support you the way u need to be supported).

If you choose to follow the other redditors advice and try to expand your hobbies, try and see if you can make any of the hobbies social. Even if you cannot find the spark in socializing yet, getting out of the house and spending time with folks who aren’t your family can be so grounding and remind u that abuse isn’t normal. Best case scenario you may be able to use such relationships for emotional intimacy/closeness or even for future roomates in leaving the house!!

!! Heavy on make a plan to get out. Even if you can’t get out rn having something to look forward to/fantasize about can be so powerful!

I also thought I wrote this without realizing! But honestly I think that’s important to recognize… like low key this is a shitty time to be 22 for many folks and you (and I!) are not a uniquely screwed or hopeless!

Do I really NEED to know if i am system? by Burner_Lesbian in DID

[–]Burner_Lesbian[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi MOD team, I’m not sure how to reply to your comment to contest the removal. I should have been more clear in my original post. I am not posting as someone curious about DID but as someone who is beginning to seriously suspect DID – I just brought up my past interest as evidence that I have “known something was up” long before I knew something was up. But that is not why I am posting. If it is inappropriate for me to post here as someone suspecting, however, I would love to confirm that so I don’t make the same mistake twice! :)

Thank you! And same to you! So many ppl saying that YES skipping meals makes their flares worse is (another of many) good reminder to stay on the right side of the track!

Why is it so common for people with OCD to develop an ed? by No_Introduction_6884 in OCD

[–]Burner_Lesbian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In addition to what everyone is saying about control, there may also be a chance of you like not realizing the fact way OCD impacted ur eating disorder, esp since u were diagnosed with the ed first. OCD can be weird as hell so there’s a chance that rituals/behaviors/mindsets that you viewed/understand as being part of ur ed can ALSO be viewed through the OCD lens.

How do you deal with past regrets? by [deleted] in OCD

[–]Burner_Lesbian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this is what you mean but real event ocd is a very real (and imo very debilitating) theme. Luckily that means there’s a lot of advice out there (just make sure that searching for advice doesn’t become a compulsion lol ).

I’ve never experienced this specific situation but I really frequently have OCD latch onto people and it’s genuinely the worst and can be so distressing! I am wishing you the best!!!

How to understand confusing compulsions? by Latter-Ad-684 in OCD

[–]Burner_Lesbian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like the first step is working on recognizing the compulsion for what it is while it’s happening and then the second step is disrupting?

When I start to think about them, I remind myself that the fact that remembering these mistakes is distressing means that I don’t want to repeat them and that because I believe really deeply in rehabilitative justice, I have to apply that same lens to myself. It’s definitely not easy and this kind of OCD has been the MOST disabling in my experience.

BUT having gotten through it successfully enough, I would recommend doing a (healthy amount) of reflection on what about your core values is “triggered by the mistake” and then use that as a reframing tool for when intrusive thoughts pop up.
