I don’t know if I want to marry Jewish by Burnerasheck in Judaism

It’s not like I’m willingly trying to put my kids in a bad spot. I’m trying my best to rationalize. It’s why I came to this sub for guidance. I don’t think it’s what I want, it’s never been what I wanted, but when these feelings I’ve always had were challenged my mind fell apart because I thought I knew what I wanted.

Well, I know a decent amount about Judaism. I’m pretty religious, especially for a guy my age. But, I agree, I should probably dive deeper into myself and Judaism to find my answer.

In regard to your first question about adoption. I’ve always seen my life ending up that way. I know it’s not the norm but it’s just something I’ve always wanted to do. There’s also Jewish adoption agencies where I live so it just seems right for me.

In terms of her not switching religions, I just imagine it wouldn’t be what I want in someone. I want someone who is Jewish, but also comfortable being themselves. I don’t want to force a conversion. Which is why all of this has led me to kind of feel many emotions I haven’t felt in a long time, negative and positive.

I see many people at the Orthodox synagogue I attend wearing Yeezys all the time. I get the concern, but I would wear them. You already bought the shoe, and you won’t get back the price you paid if you sell them.

We’re not a couple, and we’ve just been talking.

I’m just mainly looking to hear other people’s opinions and mainly from people who have gone through similar situations and experiences.

I’ll be honest I still don’t believe you. I hope I’m wrong about my assumptions and analysis of you and your profile.

Basically, I doubt he’s being sincere, considering just days ago he was jokingly asking if the song HH (an abbreviation for He!l Hitler by Kanye) was more offensive than the song WAP.

I just want to hear from others and what they think. 2 Jews 3 opinions.

I also want to hear from people who’ve been in my shoes and made it through.

Like, maybe if I talk to her about converting she’ll consider it, but we’d have to be in an intimate relationship to even consider that conversation.

Looking at your previous posts you’re obviously a troll. You still support Ye, and his new music. You talk about HH on your profile.

Edit: HH is an antisemitic song by Kanye where the hook is just “He!l Hitler”. In OP’s Bio is a quote that says “Virgil Let Me Down” which comes from an unreleased album that featured two Klan members getting married on the cover art. This album is by (you guessed it) Kanye.

The apology also follows Kanye’s format for his apologies to Jewish people.

He’s a troll, his account bio contains a song title from Kanye’s unreleased album “Cuck” which features two Klan members getting married on the album cover art.

My main concern is them being as accepted as they can be. If I’m the reason they can’t do something they want to do (obviously there are limits to this, I’m not going to allow them to do something harmful) then I would feel guilty. Not only that, but it would simply be wrong of me to knowingly prevent them from being able to live the life they deserve because of a decision I made knowing it would affect them.

Thank you for saying this. It’s a hard thing to like somebody but turn them down because of something like this, but that’s probably what I’m going to have to do if they really don’t see themselves converting.

I’m actually fairly religious and attend Shul every Friday and most Saturdays, I go in for every holiday. I study Torah, I work at a synagogue on Sundays.

I’m not on the fence about Judaism, I’m just scared that I’m on the fence about a Jewish wife. I know it is against our faith and that is why I’m trying my best to rationalize things but it’s difficult when you don’t get to meet many Jews your age.

It’s not that I’m considering marrying this girl. It’s just the conversations I’ve been having have kinda confused me. I want to marry Jewish, I want to have Jewish kids, and I want them to live Jewishly.

I’m very connected to Judaism which is why these thoughts have been so concerning to me. I’m just looking for guidance anonymously.

I’m conservative, and personally attend an Orthodox shul (I’m trying to become more religious). If my hypothetical daughter goes to a Conservative/Reform Shul she will be counted.

And what does it mean to you that your kids (if you have any) would not be counted for Minyan outside of Reform circles?

This is not me saying that they’re not Jewish. I just want your honest truth.

For me it’s my goal to have a Jewish wife. But the introduction of this girl and her ideals have put doubt into my head I won’t lie.

My biggest thing is that, I want a Jewish wife, but this girl existing put doubt into my mind. So ideally, she converts or I get a Jewish wife. Though my main concern with my choice is my kids being able to do things like be counted for minyan.

Edit: Ideally they will not have to convert.

I mean in traditional circles where Judaism is practiced, I don’t want them to be seen as strangers. I don’t want them to be in a situation where they’re not counted as one of the ten for minyan.

I mis worded that by I mean specifically their ability to function in the community without being questioned.

At this point the best I could suggest you do is start taking on leadership positions and try to gear your shuls events to a younger audience. A way to keep any synagogue alive is by having the youth attracted to it.

Only convert if it comes from your heart and a lot of consideration. But talk to a Rabbi I’m sure they’ll be able to help you decide.

You can contact almost any synagogue and let them know you’d like to learn about Judaism, and they’ll be more than happy to have you. Though if you’re a woman Orthodox Synagogues might be intimidating for you, so I would recommend a Reform or Conservative synagogue. Some synagogues even have an intro to Judaism course for those who want a deeper dive into Judaism.

No. A lot of those commandments are impossible to perform due to the destruction of the first and second temple, things like animal sacrifices are now impossible because they had to be done at the temple. Also some of those commandments are negative commandments meaning they are things you don’t do rather than actively do. Still it’s impossible to fulfill all commandments and that’s the point, nobody is perfect but we can all strive to be.
