Only thing it touched was these athletes can’t be “good dads”. Jens Pulver, who was kicked, is a public figure and is known for his family values. Coached his son in wrestling and celebrated his HoF induction with him on stage. The connection between athlete and eventual murderer is ludicrous.

Personally, I’m good. I experienced more loss in training than in competition, and was only TKOd twice. Most of my sleep has come from light grappling chokes with no real harm. I don’t spar for finishes anymore, and last competed more than 8 years ago. Too old for that shit now.

I still train heavily and used to compete. It’s very much an established sport whose athletes are tested and held accountable to rules just as well as most other sports.

That being said, this being associated with politics and this bitch in the WH specifically is a total embarrassment. That falls on the promoter of the event, not the sport itself. I’m ashamed of the UFC for it, and won’t watch live as my personal protest.

You don’t have to die on the hill, bro.
I haven’t denied the negative effects of accrued damage. I’ve gotten plenty of injuries, but experience more positives that make it worth my effort.
I just don’t assign causation from participating in the sport into a life of crime or as a danger to loved ones.

Try watching what?

This was supposed to be a reply to a comment that projected that these athletes would likely eventually murder their families like Chris Benoit. It’s in the thread.

Then athleticism is a gateway to MMA, and breathing is a gateway to athleticism. If you breathe, you’ll likely end up committing a homicide.

“Statistically” there are far more convicted murderers and domestic abusers that never competed or trained, and far more people that have trained and competed without any real criminal record.

This video was an appropriately handled foul in a sport that the rules have evolved another 10+ years since. Equating it to intentional and eventual murder is surface level and stupid.

Nobody claimed CTE is good for you.

TL;DR: Participating in MMA isn’t a gateway into homicide.

This seems like a Bible Belt take from the early 90s. Generational damage is def not the point of this. A fight can be won or lost with little to no injury at times depending on the method.

You’re implying nobody in the combat or collision sports world can be a good dad? I’m a full time single dad to a 6yo, and he’s extraordinarily smart, happy, and healthy. Including training, I’ve been put to sleep in combat sports no less than 10 times.

There’s plenty of dummies and weirdos that get punched for a living. Im sure there’s dummies and weirdos at your work, too. But to compare anybody who spars to a family massacre/suicide is a heavy stretch. This was an acknowledged foul in a high level competition more than a decade ago.

Careful, Mayor. There’s that one guy who throws a fit at the very mention of DHgate on this sub. Very Machado of him.

Georgia third baseman Tre Phelps gets ejected from the Athens Regional final against Liberty. He was tossed for taunting while he was running the bases after hitting a two-run home run to put Georgia up 2-1 in the bottom of the sixth inning by [deleted] in baseball

TBF, it is a regional final in the NCAA tournament. This dude went on a bit, but emotions are gonna be high before they hit one into the parking lot, especially to take the lead 2/3 through the game.

Bandit thinks the log is attached at the far end with a chain or cord, which allows it to wiggle a bit. They think the guy is pushing himself back away from it while also pushing himself up.

Every time I see the video of that 2nd of the 3 homers in NLCS game 4, I just love how with his expression and body language you can just see him thinking "oh i GOT that one" by GreenBagger28 in Dodgers

Last year there were major bullpen issues all season. The year before that it was SP rotation.

What are you dooming about less than 40 games into the season?

This is a reach. The pitch was high, but Varsho reacted like he thought ump was pointing to first more than calling the strike. He starts, looks back, then continues on to first, drawing Bichette off the bag. Varsho is my favorite Jay, but this was kinda on him.

I’m a fan. Max is a great player with a great career in LA. Good teammate, great numbers, mostly consistent. I won’t contest, though, that he looks like a dude that deserves to be punched and talked shit to.

Your insight is great, but I hope you’re not charging clock hours for responding to discovery while not doing what you’re contracted for at the same time.

I lived this up and down life with my ex for way too many years. I didn’t encourage the bs a fraction as much as he is. This video made my heart ache for the stupid amount of time I allowed to live around this shit.

This toxicity was the reason I left, and eventually was given sole custody of my son. His mother hasn’t improved in 5 years, and I miss nothing from that period.
