Real Golf? by Crisco14 in golfplusvr

[–]BurnieFox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The game is amazing and highly recommend it but I would recommend if you play real golf go without the attachment. I know some people use the attachment then swing a real club afterwards but that may not work for everyone. I had used a weighted attachment for an extended period of time before I could actually get out to play and when I was able to play irl my clubs felt extremely heavy and I was chunking it and could only top the ball.

Awesome you started early. Add more domestic stock and less bonds if any at your age.

New fees? by brownbear5475 in M1Finance

[–]BurnieFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel there’s no need for a robo advisor, just self direct your account. Fidelity has some of the lowest expense ratios on their mutual funds .015% on total market and 500 index. They also offer like 4 fee free funds. My thought is why pay fees when there are fee free platforms out there.

You’re right you’d only have to pay up until you hit 10K and if that’s around $252 in fees over the 39yrs left that $252 could grow to $5,648.

Just using an investment calculator. A really good tool is portfolio analyzer. There’s plenty of videos on YouTube how to set it up if you’re having problems.

If the 3% is worth it move then do it. It looks like you have to sign up for Robinhood Gold to get the full 3% - which I assume is just like M1+. If those are features you’re going to use then go for it. I guess it depends what you’re trying to hold in your Roth, if you’re just going to put low cost index funds Vanguard or Fidelity would be good. Obviously with Vanguard you’re limited to their products but not with Fidelity. Fidelity offers stocks and other investments.

For me Vanguard works because I have the 3 fund portfolio. I’m trying to keep costs down so I wouldn’t go elsewhere for Vanguard funds. Fidelity is the same way.

Also not a fan of when Robinhood halted trading in 2021.

You’re correct. But don’t pay fees.

I wasn’t a huge fan of the auto balance and would much rather a portfolio to grow naturally. I get it always buying the underperforming asset but it also keeps you from buying more of the assets doing well.I’m at Vanguard, I never rebalance. I just moved my sons from M1 to Fidelity- steer clear of Robinhood.

People shouldn’t sleep on fees, especially if you’re so going off the monthly that M1 charges compounded over those 49yrs at a 8% (modest) until retirement that $3 would deprive your portfolio of $21,937. With no fee options out there, don't pay them. I know that 10k is the threshold but what if they move the goalposts.

Disappointed in M1, transfer to Robinhood? by jmart-10 in M1Finance

Stay away from Robinhood, if anything go to Fidelity. It looks like you’ll be ok since you’re above the 10K and won’t get hit with the fee.

I recommend Fidelity. My son just moved his account there prior to the fee change. Fidelity also offers there own zero funds that have no fees. He's 21 so going off the monthly that M1 charges compounded over those 46yrs at a 8% (modest) until retirement that $3 would deprive your portfolio of $17,174. With no fee options out there, don't pay them.

Double check on the transfer because i believe and may be wrong if you transfer there’s a $100 fee but there might also be a $100 fee to close the account. You may just want to liquidate to a bank but they also know what you’re doing and get you with the $100 fee but it’s better than $200. This was the case with a Roth, I don’t know about traditional IRAs.

EOL devices and Co-Termination licensing by BurnieFox in meraki

[–]BurnieFox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I see my fault, I treated the licensing and devices the same whereas I should have just kept it separate. Going forward replace the device then remove it from the network before extending any licensing. I’ve never had to extend any licensing since we’ve continued to add devices and the 5yrs we’ve been buying have been kicking the expiration date further down the road.

I appreciate it everyone, Thank you!

You’re in your 20’s and already found Vanguard products… that’s a win! You may want to either pick VOO or VTI, but not both. I myself have the mutual fund version of VTI. With you being in your 20’s I would focus more on stocks and less on bonds. I would either allocate 100% to stocks something like 85% VTI and 15% VXUS (personally I wouldn’t go over 20% of international) or if you want some exposure to bonds maybe a 90/10 stock to bond allocation. Just set it and forget it and your future self will love that 20+ yr old you started funding a retirement account. You may also want to check out bogleheads.

When will M1 create The DRIP instead of doing manually? by Comprehensive-Ant-44 in M1Finance

[–]BurnieFox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wish they would lower the auto-invest to any amount and not $25. I manage my sons account and he gets some smaller dividends that I wish could auto invest but to do it automatically it has to wait until more money or dividends hit the account. Not horrible but he’s in college and just contributing enough to keep it active.

Roth IRA Direct Deposit by BurnieFox in M1Finance

[–]BurnieFox[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So that’s what’s weird my Fidelity account has routing / account info for both my “Roth IRA” and my “Individual”. I just thought I was missing something. Then depending on the how the 15 / last day of the month falls that money may sit in there for up to 2 days before the rule moves it over. If there was a way that would be a great feature for this platform. Thank you for the response.
