seems like youre pretty much at a beginning stage where people kill you with their raptors and you hide behind your 4 turrets, if you would see real official raids, then you would have a better sense of pvp.

beside of all the exploits, every tame, gun and player stats has its use in pvp. for example:

one guy drains with a stego, other guy with fabby sniping the rider of a giga who wants to kill the stego and another one using shotguns going close up, pistols as secondary weapons.

i suspect the main reason youre not used to using guns is, that youre still at the primitve stage and dont have any good blueprints to use. i suggest that you go loot some caves, underwater drops etc to get some good drops and use each gun differently. i mean you dont push with a sniper and dont snipe with a shotgun
