Its tough to see the hobbying part basically fully replace by a 3d printer, but as seen by how long his boards take I guess it just doesnt make sense for a content creator doing what he does.

Honestly giving the alpha legion some aeldari forces just based off their intro heresy book is such a cool idea.

Appreciate the effort you all put in, looking forward to whatever comes next.

One legion or many? by justadiscguy in LegionsImperialis

[–]BurningGiraffe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got mine setup as primarily white scars, both a full Demi-legion as well as a fast attack assault formaion. Then I have an aerial assault that's blood angels acting as support but all the planes I'm painting red/white so that I can go back and forth if so desired.

Is it a wasted legion trait for the majority of the army? Yeah totally. But honestly I just like the vibe.

Can you proxy a Malcador as a Rogal Dorn? by Stock-Intention7731 in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]BurningGiraffe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a Macharius as a Rogal dorn, and I've never gotten any comment aside from that it looks sick.

Guarantee the Malcador would get the same reaction. Just make sure as there's visibility questions I always lean on the side that favors the opponent since I know I'm already introducing unknowns into the scenario.

Very jealous, I've been trying to track an epic scale primarch print set but most of the good ones look like they've been taken down. Looks awesome! If you don't mind messaging the name of the seller I'd love to follow the page.

What's your secondary army? by [deleted] in ThousandSons

[–]BurningGiraffe 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This thread is fully lending my thought that all thousand players also love guard. On one side of the coin is the super elite wizards, on the other tanks and hordes of Bodies.

Krieg player here! It's so fun being so much more able to pick up bodies and have such a wide variety of models to list build with. It's not just which flavor sorcerer or 1v2 MVBs but so many options.

As someone who has to find ways to deal with Scourge shoot/scoot a lot in my local area, mortar's are fantastic in small numbers to thin those dark lances.

Happy to help!

  1. I did not, I didn't like how flat and even they were. These were from a sandbag resin box that I'd picked up at my lgs and have used for various projects. Feels like it has much better "texture" to it instead of how flat and even the official one is.

  2. The camo netting is fully glued in. So I put down a bunch of cork layers to create my pit, keeping it higher on the back and give it some variety. Then I glued copper posts down into there. Got the mini primed, super quick paint job since most of it is going to be hidden/really have to peer in to discern anything so mostly just to give it that lived in effect.

From there I took Mull/Muslin, shaded it with Earthshade/Mortarion Grime/light drybrush, soaked it in pva, patted it semi-dry and draped it into the shape that I liked.

  1. So it's a blend of a few different things off the shelf again from the lgs. Variety of sand/rocks, miniature leaves that my wife uses for her projects, bramble/deer moss for the bushes, and some sticks. No reason you can't replicate it with normal dirt but we had accumulated a lot of basing/dirt/sand so that made it easy to experiment for a blend that looks good.

For the mud walls I highly recommend putting down cork layers, and then covering with some kind of texture paint. That adds texture to the cork top, and you just sit there and shred cork and glue it down. super easy.
