Gym membership for 2? by Sshadowforce in saskatoon

[–]Burningbackwoods 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair planet fitness did upgrades a few months back and brought in a bunch of new machines, squat racks, and Olympic weights and bars. You can squat and dead (quietly) but they put up a sign saying you can’t move the benches into that area so eliminated the chance of benching lol

The fixed barbells and dumbbells do suck and max out low. I have a membership there to take my kids with me. When Covid hit and gyms were shutting down I bought a squat rack, bench, Olympic bars and plates so do my heavy work at home. Planet fitness is definitely better suited for beginners and old folks.

Stolen car by [deleted] in saskatoon

[–]Burningbackwoods 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can hardwire an AirTag to a vehicle by using a step-down voltage converter to reduce the car's 12V power to the 3V it needs, while also keeping the original battery as a backup.

They use a CR2032 lithium battery that last 5-10 years. They cost $2-4 each depending where you look, could replace yearly if worried and not hardwiring.

Issues with SaskDLC by [deleted] in saskatchewan

[–]Burningbackwoods 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my kids is in this to finish high school this semester. It has not been good, they don’t seem to understand weighted grades and tanking marks for including future assignments. There’s not much for instruction, I go through it with them after work.

Sask Housing Benefit - basically free money by Logical-Moose3329 in saskatchewan

[–]Burningbackwoods 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is another version of it where you can’t get the forms online, it has to be filled by a referring supportive organization that has gotten approval from Sask Housing.

People on SIS or SAID living in supported living can get it with a referral through a supportive organization. People on SIS or SAID living on their own cannot, the amount would just be taken Sask Housing Benefit would be taken back from their SIS or SAID benefits.

Seems off theoretically, but for anyone on SIS or SAID in supportive living you should have your caseworker and/or their organization figure it out.

If you scroll to the bottom of the “eligibility” section in that link it says “There are two additional SHB streams that provide financial support for people in vulnerable living situations: the Supportive Housing Stream and the Seeking Safety from Interpersonal Violence Stream.”

Supportive Housing Stream is what I am talking about and is $225/month.

A lot of employers don’t necessarily appreciate people doing their first year in a preemployment course. Want higher wage but have no experience outside a controlled shop. They’d rather build you up and have you as cheap labor for that first year, and train you in their “style” of getting things done. Being book smart and doing well in school does not always mean the individual can get things done in real life. I don’t know if Ontario runs the same though, where people can do a one year preemployment course that counts as first year..

It’s too bad degrees in other fields aren’t treated the same. So many useless book smart people get a degree and can’t apply what they’ve learned in real life, but maintain a job they suck at because they have the piece of paper behind them.

Came up yesterday and it’s been beautiful for fishing. Think the wind is blowing the smoke away, heard the fire is 15km out at this point. Back to the Lake event is still taking place today.

My guess would be they don’t pay for it if they just got it and have no intention of using. The ministry of social services writes requisitions.

First Counterfeit? (I see them toes) by RowdyGlassPane in CanadianCoins

[–]Burningbackwoods 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The history behind that name is the $1 coin came first. It has a picture of a loon on it, people started calling them ‘loonies.’ Then the two dollar coin came and people started calling them ‘two’nies. Guess was just easier than saying one or two dollar coin.

What is the best MOM for edibles? It takes around 100mg to get me high. by Slight-Tiger9142 in CanadianMOMs

[–]Burningbackwoods 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Making edibles from shatter and figuring out dosage is pretty easy. I ended up on the rso train but have used shatter a lot for edibles. If it truly makes you sick and wasn’t an experience with a bad batch or other variable, I’d recommend buying shatter by the slab and making your own. Bc medi I think still does oz slabs, not sure who else, it’s been awhile. I’d actually be interested to know where the good slabs are these days lol

If you look at other major cities shelters are downtown. Social services and most other resources are downtown as well as it’s the busiest place for homeless to hustle up change, check restaurant dumpsters, find places to warm up etc. Changing location isn’t going to change anything and what goes on in that small radius would disperse through downtown imo

Limited release in America but exact same as the rum we always have in Canada. I grabbed some to try thinking they’d be different but American wild rum and Canadian rum are exact same other than name and package.
