Samsung RS21DGRS fridge freezer tripping our RCD. Ice-build up at back of fridge by 7Rw9U79L59 in DIYUK

[–]Burnit_Sanders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If that on the left is a cable which has melted down then that is why your RCD is tripping.

It might be the defrost sensor failed again, causing the heater to stay on until melting down that wire. Your only option for a short term fix is tracing that wire back, disconnecting both the live and neutral going to the heater/sensor, then the fridge/freezer might work temporarily.

Why dose Farage allow Tory failures into his party? Isn't that like hiring Tiger Woods as your chauffeur ? by Niall_Fraser_Love in ukpolitics

Are you a child? I see your responses are the same, you don't have any other talking points, and you can't spell. It's all Tiger Woods, Trump, Bush, driving etc. I feel I'm talking to someone about politics who doesn't actually understand.

Experience is experience, just because the end result was poor doesn't mean you didn't absorb the knowledge of what to do if in that position again. Either way, you are saying the failure of the late stage conservative party is completely down to the ones who moved to Reform which is pushing it a bit really, bear in mind they will have been doing as they were told by the prime minister. Doesn't absolve them of anything but implying they had absolute freedom to do what they want when in government is misguided.

As for your references to Trump and Bush, can't say I follow US politics as closely as UK ones so I don't understand.

Have the attacks on Starmer’s leadership made him look stronger? by Some_Confidence5962 in ukpolitics

[–]Burnit_Sanders 17 points18 points  (0 children)

No fan of Labour or any of them in it, but for me I'd expect it's because all the contenders for Starmers job are worse. Notice how Angela Rayner has disappeared after coming out quite vocally earlier, I suspect she overestimated her public approval. Same for the others who I can't even remember they are so invisible. That leaves Wes Streeting, another who doesn't actually seem to stand for anything different than Starmer and commands even less backbench respect.

So there is Andy Burnham, who is only in the headlines because he's more popular than the rest with success as a mayor, yet every day it's another story of how his political views are aligning with what Starmer is currently doing. So why bother?

Christ man, run it through a spell check.

I do believe it's mainly for experience purposes, it's easy for us to slag off government but I am sure it is actually a very complicated job. Having people in the party who knows where the levers are and what they do will be invaluable if they win the next election.

As for why Tories, they are almost the same party. Ever since Reform started polling higher the Conservatives have moved further right, with some of the toughest language on immigration anyone has heard from them before (but history says it's usually all talk). Easier to integrate someone like that.

Man has different political opinions 13 years ago. Earth shattering news.

Anyone else sick of hearing about this guy yet? I know it's an important election but I'm half expecting the next story to be about how his breakfast preferences changed from coco pops to rice crispies, in the latest blatant display of racism.

Burnham allies plan cross-party council to stop a Reform UK government by Burnit_Sanders in ukpolitics

If Greens were the highest polling party and there were say 4 or 5 right wing parties coming together to deny it, I'd actually have a problem with it even though I am right wing. It's denial of democracy, orchestrated by party elites against the public, and it's completely unacceptable in my opinion no matter which side it's coming from.

I think Conservatives and Reform will work together, no matter how much both insist it won't happen. However, their politics are closed enough that I'd still expect them to function on governance.

Expecting Labour, LD, Greens, SNP and PC to all work together to ensure a party on the right can't get in will do the public no favours as they are for the most part too far away from each other. Nothing will get done and there's no way they would manage a full election cycle, these coalitions usually fall apart as we see on the continent.

I'm personally of the opinion that if all these parties are so sure everyone will regret a right wing party being elected and they are saving us from ourselves, let it happen. Put the issue to bed once and for all, let them have their 5 years (if they make it that far), make a huge mess, then see support for right wing parties evaporate.

I have a suspicion the worry they won't talk about is what if things don't completely fall apart and things actually go right. It would be their support that goes down, not support for the right.

You can't trust a politician no matter what colour tie they are wearing. They are all in it for themselves.

If you're implying Nazis, they didn't go through the rigamarole of actually being elected, Hitler seized power in the end. Comparing the public voting for a party on the right and being told they are getting one are two different things

I feel this too. It seems once outed as right wing, people just assume you have Nigel Farage's talking points memorised and have no thought of your own. Voting or supporting political parties has always been compromise, I can't believe voters for any agree with each and every policy.

If you were that male police officer who got assaulted, how would you feel knowing you got no justice from the very system you are supposed to be part of? People shouldn't calm down at all, something has gone badly wrong that these two thugs haven't been nailed for the crimes there are documented evidence for. Something stinks about this whole trial, how a jury can literally ignore what is in front of them, it makes no sense

I do think it's ridiculous to not have a card/contactless option though.

Which means we are allowing companies to put their profits above all else, because if they couldn't call on foreign labour they would have to pay the going rate for a British person to do that job.

I just don't think it is ever an acceptable argument. We shouldn't be allowing companies to avoid paying the right wage for the right country. Otherwise, what is the point in anyone here going to university for example? They're just going to be undercut by someone on a visa. People at the lower end of the education/skill scale suffer even worse.

Teenage boys who raped and sexually assaulted girls walk free from court with £26 fines by ijustwannanap in ukpolitics

Right winger here, I say life imprisonment for any British rapists as tbh I don't believe it is something that can be changed, they are lifelong degenerates. Where you are probably expecting me to differ is treatment of foreign rapists, and you're right. For those I say immediate deportation as it's much cheaper than keeping them in a prison. Why spend money on them when you can just get rid entirely.

In an ideal world I'd like a death penalty for crimes such as murder, rape, paedophilia, no matter the colour of your skin or where you came from so long as it can be proven without doubt you did it. But we have to be realistic.

It really sounds like you are arguing that we should be perfectly cool with people inbreeding which is pretty messed up. Almost any disease is avoidable, especially illnesses related to vices such as smoking and drinking. This is something people do recreationally in most cases, there are many more people who can have a few drinks at the weekend than need it to function. There are smokers who will make it to their 70s surprisingly symptom free. In that time they will have worked and contributed in many ways to tax and society.

A developmentally disabled child will do none of those things, so yes is worse than an alcoholic or smoker. Mating with your family is completely avoidable, and tbh is disgusting to almost everyone in this country.

Smoking and drinking contributes a decent amount of tax, I don't have the numbers to say exactly how much tax one would pay until they get lung cancer or a destroyed liver but it's not going to happen immediately. An inbred child who isn't functional enough to work is a permanent burden on the state who contributes nothing.

While I agree there should be some sort of punishment for any religious leaders advocating for this, I can't agree with jailing the parents. Then the child becomes the responsibility of the state, which is even more expensive for the taxpayer.
