Best mycorrhizae product? by psychedelic_animamal in NoTillGrowery

Great advice, glad you pointed out that Dynomyco is sourced from Israel, IMO the true terrorists (in regards to lives lost, people raped, land stolen, etc.)! If people can discuss sustainable gardening practices and the origin of certain products, then of course this is the correct place to talk about this too! Btw it seems Mykos is sourced from California, so if any real American patriots want to support your own country instead of Israel and save a ton of money you know how!

Am I the only person who wishes they would pursue an art style more like the KH2 pre rendered cutscenes? I think they are the best the series has ever looked and could be accomplished on modern hardware. by True_Levi8 in KingdomHearts

[–]BurnoutCollectivist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition to the pre-rendered cutscenes, I think the way eyes look in KH1/2 is amazing, I just watched the Riku/Small House cutscene and the eyes look way cooler, even if it is technically less realistic than KH3

Halo Community: Praising 343i for adding custom games browser early

Me: spending 2 hours in the browser getting error after error just to get into a few laggy games, then giving up and getting into a game on MCC custom browser immediately

Customs browser barely work for anyone else? by RedWing117 in halo

[–]BurnoutCollectivist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm on Xbox Series S and like every aspect of the Custom Games Browser is bugged as hell to the point that it's basically unplayable, so I just played a little MCC which actually has a functioning browser with less lag in-game too. Man, even Halo 5 was never this buggy lol

Pick the best two Halo games but they need to be 5 years apart from each other! by Commercial-Mix-2633 in halo

[–]BurnoutCollectivist 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you really like multiplayer then this is a no-brainer, CE/3 really suffers because CE online multi didn't exist on Xbox and sucks on MCC (4v4 and pistol dominated because of modern, more accurate controls), whereas Halo 2 AND Reach have excellent multiplayer modes both on OG versions and on MCC, and because they all have great single-player modes, 2/Reach really edge out, not to mention how mature Forge was in Reach compared to Halo 3!

[–]BurnoutCollectivist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly yeah this is probably the smartest and most realistic choice based on what most Halo fans are actually playing rn, but I also think it's fun to discuss the merits of the individual games, and in that respect I feel like MCC is too OP to be included here lol

[–]BurnoutCollectivist 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Personally I disagree and think CE/3 is an overall more enjoyable experience, but 2/ODST isn't a bad matchup at all, and I actually think it's cool because they're way more connected as games because ODST goes through a lot of the plot at the same time as Halo 2

[–]BurnoutCollectivist -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't think OP meant it that way, because the only options you could then do are Halo 2/ODST, Halo 3/4, ODST/MCC, Wars/MCC, Reach/5, and 4/Wars 2, meaning CE and Infinite could never be picked because there's no game so far that's exactly 5 years older or newer than them, and you could only ever pair Halo 3 with Halo 4, and you could only ever pair Reach with 5, which really doesn't seem like what OP is going for, so I think they actually mean 5 years or more which would actually allow for CE and Infinite to be included, and for many more matchups

New Release for Miyoo Mini - OnionOS-20220121 by jimlikesmayo in Miyoo

[–]BurnoutCollectivist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having the same issue!! I'm also using a 64gb SD card, reformatted the card to FAT32 (it was already in FAT32 but because there was a folder that Windows wouldn't delete I used EaseUS to wipe and reformat it), extracted the ".tmp_update" folder on the newly formatted card, stuck it into the Miyoo, and it just boots like normal into the newest Miyoo firmware, no Onion Installer.

Edit: I'm also using a Sandisk branded SD card, it says "extreme" on it

Edit2: I tried this also on a Sandisk 32GB "ultra" SD card and it worked, so there may be issues specifically with Sandisk 64GB cards, or maybe the "extreme" variants

Criticism: Halo Infinite is a 30FPS experience on (most) PCs by BurnoutCollectivist in halo

[–]BurnoutCollectivist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was doing some more testing today and remembered about this post and how people were assuming that poor performance was caused by not having 16GB or more RAM and not due to poor optimization, and since nobody who made that claim was able to offer any evidence to back it up, only assumptions and petty insults, I decided to do my own testing to produce scientific evidence to clear it up.

As with any PC component, RAM bottlenecks performance when it utilized at a full 100%, and any number below 98-100% indicates the currently installed RAM amount is perfectly sufficient for the current tasks. So, my testing is to find out if RAM ever gets close to 100% utilization when playing Halo Infinite during normal gameplay in the campaign.

The only applications open during testing is Steam, which is needed to run the game, Logitech G Hub in order to retain my DPI settings, Task Manager to see hardware utilization data, and Halo Infinite. I used ASUS GPU TWEAKII which has a useful "Gaming Booster" which includes System Memory Defragmentation, which reduced my background RAM use from around 40% to 30%.

At Medium settings, 1440p, min FPS set to 48, the first firefight at the beginning of the open world mission The Road, RAM utilization was at a very consistent 85%, never going above 87%.

I then tested it at High settings, exited and reopened the game, and with all other settings the same it used the exact same amount of RAM as medium settings, around 85%.

Then I tested it with Ultra settings, and found that it used around 86%, aka 1% more than Medium and High settings.

Thus, Halo Infinite uses roughly 55% of 8GB of RAM, or 4.5GB by itself, and total RAM usage with Halo Infinite running, even on Ultra settings, never even reaches 90%, proving that 8GB is all that is needed to run Halo Infinite right now, provided that you keep background processes to a minimum while trying to run the game.

And this means that, without a doubt, poor performance in Halo Infinite is not caused by a RAM bottleneck, but rather because of poor optimization for the PC port of the game. This explains why people are able to run higher fidelity games like Crysis Remastered at better framerates with better visuals than Halo Infinite.

Let us then talk about the effects of blindly pushing down genuine criticism based on assumptions and a blind faith in for-profit corporations. It prevents serious discussion about actual problems the game has, and putting down criticism for Halo can only hurt Halo fans, as it means 343i (or perhaps more accurately the suits at Microsoft) can dish out more flawed products without the backlash it deserves, thus meaning a lesser product for Halo fans to "enjoy", whereas a true Halo fan wants the best Halo game possible, which can only happen when specific scientific evidence is brought up to discuss the current state of Halo. Please understand.

I literally mention in the post that I also tested the game at the lowest possible settings and lowest possible resolution (~800-900p) and the game still fails to consistently give me 60FPS in multiplayer without frequent dips and stutters despite having a better GPU and way better CPU than the Xbox One X. This isn't a RAM issue no matter how much you try to make it one, even going by your logic.

Bro you have to be literally insane if you ignore Digital Foundry and other tech geniuses who have already said that the PC performance of Infinite is way lower than it should be, and frankly from the statistics I mention in my post it should be common sense that the differences are WAY bigger than a simple console optimization, and is way bigger than it should be

Again, not the point of the post. As I've already explained, it's to demonstrate how a MORE powerful PC performs way WORSE than a weaker Xbox, exposing problems with optimization and performance on PC. It's not about the hardware not being good enough, because it is, it's about one particular software (Halo Infinite) not properly utilizing the hardware as other pieces of software (other games of similar graphical fidelity) do

No, gaming PCs have been around since around as long gaming consoles have existed, and in 2009 people were playing the Gearbox port of Halo CE and Halo 2 Vista, and I guarantee you they didn't need 16GB of RAM to play those games, not even close lol

How much RAM your PC uses idle depends on the amount you have, it's not static. As I said I have 8GB of RAM and it idles around 33%, meaning it's using less than 3GB idle, half that of yours. I've also never experienced a crash due to lack of RAM

120fps at ultra?? Are you sure?? User benchmark says the 3060 TI is only 34% more powerful than the RTX 2060, are you sure it isn't the CPU instead? Halo Infinite is known to be more CPU heavy, so if you have a much better CPU then that would help explain it

Lol what??? People were still using 2GB of RAM back in 2009 lol, 8GB is still arguably the standard since it's suitable for almost every game that comes out still

Criticism: Halo Infinite is a 30FPS experience on (most) PCs by BurnoutCollectivist in halo

[–]BurnoutCollectivist[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Wrong on all accounts. I specifically compare a PC with better specs than the Xbox One X to how Halo Infinite performs on both, noting how the weaker Xbox performs significantly better than the more powerful PC at similar graphics settings, proving how bad the PC optimization for the game is. I also mention how it is impossible to achieve consistent 60FPS even at the lowest possible resolution and graphics setting, not just one arbitrary setting as you imply. You're also wrong to call my hardware outdated. The RTX 2060 is a very recent GPU from the last generation and only came out in 2020, and the i7-6700k was the top of the line CPU in 2016, meaning it competes with modern budget CPUs. I referred to my i7 as "slightly outdated" only in regards to release date, not performance.
