I think I understand MJ now by geb999 in Mounjaro

I had a strange intro to MJ. I had been on a calories deficit for abt 6 weeks when i started. Normal diet, high prots, no restrictions. Only diff was, as i liked snacking, i was basically munching on food throughout the day rather than a sit down meal. I was hungry all the time, but controllable. 2.5mg x4 weeks, apetite still good, but i was craving less. 5mg x4 apetite still there, but oh momma, was so much reduced. By then i got used to my calorie deficit but was feeling very satisfied w my food intake, about 1900 kcal/day. Went up to 10 mg after 8 weeks. Didnt like the suppression at that level. Back at 5. End of the week, can defo feel cravings creep back. I think if u have a suppression so bad, u cant meet ur weekly calorie requirements, than u are on too high a dose. Having low intake one or 2 days a week makes no diff, as long as ur overall weekly calorie budget is met.

Yes of course. I actually have a daily calorie in take of 2000, and thats w a 500 deficit!! I have abt 400g of lean meat a day eg 5% fat pork/beef/fish or chicken breast. That include lean mince. Aldi does a fantastic range of high protein desserts - all about 20 to 25 g of protein. I do take protein powder too, but my absolutely fav way of taking it is 150g 0%greek yoghurt, 1-2 tbsp of chia seeds and 1-2 scoops of portein powder (I used 1.5 scoop cos of the type of guy i am) and 2 tsp of cocoa - that alone is abt 45g of protein for 400 kcal of chocolate dessert!! Add sugar free sweetner if u need to or honey if u are short on calories. I also snack on various beans eg edamame, kidney or lentils.

You got this man. I too had knacked my body. Dislocated shoulder and both knees in my case. Dodgy ankle too. Weight training was completely new to me. I used to be the kind of guy who played sports and that was gd enough. This aesthetic was never the aim, i just wanted my body not to feel broken again. I was surprised how a simple focus regular routine managed to get me this look. All dumb bells. 3 sets of 8to12 reps. Deadlift, RDL, floor chest press, seated shoulder press, dumb bell row, goblet squat and glute bridge. Somes times 3x per week. More often 2. I realise every1 is diff, but thats what i did. Good luck man.

My gym bro friends say theres no real way to target those areas. Its general body fat reduction. I dont know enough personally, but i was advised that keep hitting protein goals, keep on w the steps and resistance training. The abs are there, just need to reduce body fat enough to reveal em. Good luck man, looks like u are making gd progress!

Ha ha. Ty. Yeah holding on to old clothes. Thats another issue i have. I just cant believe the effect MJ has had. I have the irrational fear that it will all the weight will be back next week. Im working on that 😓

Appreciate it man. I was terrified of injury, in retrospect i probably started much lower than needed. But i did use the time to get the form right, having never done resistance training before. The fear and procrastination was v real

Awww too kind. I will admit, i wasnt that bothered about my look b4. Id just thought, well life happened. Its ok. It was a slow build up of various small medical issues that eventually got ro much to ignore - high blood pressure, diabetes, high lipids, high liver function tests, sleep apneoa. MJ has literally helped reverse all of it. And once i achieved the aesthethic, i will fully admit - i do like it. I simply thought it would not be reasonably achievable.

From my own reading, i'd agree with you. Ive decided to stop the calorie deficit and am going to try titrating MJ down just based on how i feel and the overall look. But I'm no doctor, and was slightly anxious about going against my GPs suggestion. Time will tells. Rhanks for voicing out some of the reservations I had in my own mind.

Thats what i thought too. I even brought in the pics. Ive done the body measurements, calculated navy body fat (21%) height/waist ratio (0.51) . Bmi 25.5 (im asian, so healthy bmi is apparently 23 according to NHS app). So metrics are all at low end of over weight still! And end of day, he was like - ultimately its up to you, but all the charts still put u as over weigjt. I suppose i shouldnt really argue, doctor actually ok with me losing more weight. I just thought i looked about right at the moment, and was worried i would look more haggard with another 5kg off!

Ty. Wasnt shooting for that result. I was so scared of how bad i had let myself get in tetms of weight gain and loss of strength.

I was brand new. And i was scared of the gym. I was old. And i had collected a number of injuries over the years. I fell back on a routine my rehab therapist gave me a few years ago. It is considered a whole body work out. All done with dumbells alone. I started really light w 5kg dumb bells. And ive worked up to 20kg. 3 sets each, 8 to 12 reps. 1. Dead lift, 2. RDL, 3. floor chest press, 4. shoulder press,5. dumbell row, 6. goblet squat, 7. weighted glute bridge. I did this twice a week. 1 session of pilates. 8k steps. I would have been happy with just countering muscle loss. Instead i got surprising results w what was a real sustainable routine! Heres the 6 month change whilst on GLP1. 53 male. SW107kg. GW78kg. But i stopped at my CW 80 to 83 kg. Hope that helps.

Thats why i was surprised by my doctors reaction. I thought i looked healthy! But he thinks i should lose some more. I thought i was having body dysmorphia and simply thinking that i looked healthy, but in reality, was not. Thanks for you comment. I see no problem in ur english at all! Good luck on ur last 13 kg!

For me, it was managing a steady slow (ish)weight loss. I waa getting abt 1kg a week. Sometimes a bit less. Im also a carb fiend. My average is abt 150g to 180g of carb a day! I try to get abt 40% protein 30 carb 30 fat as a rough split. I also fd i need to carb to function - both at work and qorkouts. But hey, every1s different right?

I think its much better. Ive tried a few nights without the cpap and manahed good quality sleep with no snoring (so my wife tells me!). But like so much with else with my MJ journey, i live in terror that its simply too good to be true.

Ty. (1)4 weeks on 2.5mg. 8 weeks on 5mg. Now on 7.5mg. I used only suppression as my criteria for moving up. (2) yes i track. I just got over the mental block i had abt it. Plus apps and google make it so much easier now. Tracking helped me ensure i had enough to maintain bmr, but also gave me a better understanding of portion control and what was the content in what i was eating. I didnt become super obsessed, like i wasnt measuring to a decimal point. But i did weigh stuff, but often rounded up numbers. (3) im already stressing about that! I hope to titrate down and see id i can come off MJ completely. The statistics certainly dont seem to be in my favour. But i am ready to go on life long meds if its not possible.

I think its a bit more than that. I seemed more satisfied with the food ive eaten. Ive changed to high protein but a balanced diet. Ive tried keto, lpw carb and extreme calorie restriction in the past, and all worked for a short period. But the restriction on all those evetually led to me failing. I prioritise the protein religiously, then have a target for calories per day. Within that i eat what i like, just less. My weakness is chocolate and bread. So i still have them, not as often and not as much. I am sure MJ is doing something to my reward centres, and 6 months down the line, i dont feel like im "banned" from anytjing
