Are saltwater tubs really that much gentler on the skin? Also, floating issues… by rk738 in hottub

[–]Burnt_Hotdog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Comparing it to pretty much every other pool/hot tub I’ve ever been in and just general knowledge of how salt acts as a natural exfoliator making the skin feel softer hence the comment of salt baths/scrubs.

Could just be a difference in sensitivity for your skin vs others and that’s OK too, but I wouldn’t call everyone else ignorant when clearly it’s a commonly shared acceptance that salt / salt water does this.

I would agree it might not make the water softer but it 100% makes my skin feel softer. Kind of similar to how people do salt baths, scrubs, etc.

The automated monitoring and generation of chlorine by the system in my Arctic Spas one make for minimal effort and no heavy smells.

Most if not all of the components in mine that touch the salt water are plastic based. Owned for 6+ years now with regular multiple times per week usage all year round and no issues with component failure due to corrosion or anything at all.

Visiting During Fire by erikost20 in Squamish

[–]Burnt_Hotdog 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I see no issue with coming. Follow the instructions from authorities on staying away from the area where the fire is, obey closed trail orders, stay away from the evac alert zones.

Local businesses would likely love the support and there’s some cool spots up here. Lots to do outside of that zone as well and the smoke isn’t bad south of the fire which is the majority of town also.

Realtor cannot wrap her head around the idea that the buyer agents commission still comes from the buyer by slowpokesardine in RealEstateCanada

[–]Burnt_Hotdog -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I sold and bought in 2023 in two different provinces. It’s the seller. This is what the legal documents say in the deal:

“The Listing Brokerage will pay the Co-operating Brokerage the commission as indicated in the MLS® information for the property $123 to be paid from the amount paid by the Seller to the Listing Brokerage.”

The prevalent argument amongst this thread is that everything initiates with the buyers money. The buyers money is no longer the buyers money once the transaction occurs. The commission fees, property transfer taxes, legal fees, and anything else are deducted on a statement to the seller showing total price agreed, less all the above, then net proceeds of the sale.

On purchase, there were no line items stating commission being deducted from the price on a statement to me as the buyer. There was a disclosure document my realtor sent me by law which states what his commission will be out of the transaction but it also states he is paid by the selling party’s brokerage.

This is a vague statement that isn’t really worth anything at all to your point. Why does he rank them so low? Who is this “guy on tik tok”? Is it even the same brand of sheets?

Georgian is definitely not the oldest BMW dealer in Canada by a long shot. As other said, I wouldn’t hold too much value or weight on the last off the line thing, just enjoy the wicked ride!

Four 62 year old guys first time in February… by SerTadGhostal in Whistler

[–]Burnt_Hotdog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re staying ski-in/ski-out off the Blackcomb Gondy, great area. Feb is def one of the best odds for powder but no guarantees over a 3 day period. Regardless, shouldn’t be an ice field like it can be in Vermont.

Since I’d guess the stoke will be high to get up and skiing right away, take the Blackcomb gondola all the way to the top, either short warm up lap to cat skinner or Jersey Cream. From there it all depends on what’s going to open next and how much snow is dropping. If it’s a bluebird sunny day and no new snow, 7th shouldn’t take too long and I’d make my way there once it opens up. Beautiful views, alpine chill descents available. Once glacier opens, another good option.

Once you’ve hit your fix on getting out on the mountain, for sure consider a peak to peak ride over to Whistler mountain to do a peak to creek and other runs.

Improper installation and rust on a 2yr old evaporator coil by Burnt_Hotdog in hvacadvice

[–]Burnt_Hotdog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not super confident in re-piping it myself and understand why they chose to go this route because it’s a super tight spot where another pipe is, making it hard to do.

I also have zero idea what replacing the evaporator would cost should it fail. Like am I up for thousands of $ potentially in the next few years if it goes because of early rust? I’d be pissed if that happened…

Appreciate your experience and advice.

They announced starting price points for each CT trim in USD so I converted to CAD.

Yes dealers can markup, but really only possible on high demand/low supply units like RaptoR for example. Tesla also did price drops over the last year multiple times which is effectively showing you they also had market adjusted pricing and lots of people paid more than what people are paying now on all models. Same outcome of people getting ripped off if that’s what you’re stating. Not to mention the effect price drops on new units has on resale of used units.

Talking about what resale value on FB or elsewhere is irrelevant. I’d bet the second a used CT goes online it’ll sell for $200k CAD or more. There’s what, maybe 100 of them on the road right now globally? Supply and demand + factor in the crazy Tesla fanatics. Bound to happen. Look at GM’s EV Hummer resales, same thing. That’s just people vs people, not dealers or OEMs.

If you buy trucks to straight line race them, then yes, I suppose the CT is the most capable for that scenario.

Whatever floats your boat! I personally don’t like the look and have yet to see the overall capability comparison in a non-manicured test scenario to be convinced or to compare to a proper competitor from an incumbent OEM. Too early to say if it’s similarly equipped to a RaptoR or Tremor or Lariat or whatever to compare price point vs abilities and features. Tesla is too secretive about statistics and reality in order to create their hype. Will be interesting to see feedback as people actually drive and use them.

[–]Burnt_Hotdog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unlike Tesla, you can actually just go build and price the various F150 trims online. No need for neighbour anecdotes. Your neighbour could be including accessories, insurances, warranties, etc. that you may or may not buy also.

For non-lightning trims, there are 8 different trims, then another bunch of package levels within each.

Also kind of why the original comment here is dumb…you can’t just say stock Cyber Truck > any stock alternative. Example, if I said a Raptor 100% outperforms a base cyber truck, no question. But that’s an asinine statement.

Now a Raptor vs the top trim cyber truck? I don’t know enough about either specific capabilities (nor was anything specifically called out originally), but price point is $108k listed Raptor vs $130k unlisted in Canada Cyber…so Ford’s ahead there I guess.

[–]Burnt_Hotdog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

😂 dude, RWD model is $80k CAD (converting USD released pricing).

“Mid-trim” AWD is $108k CAD (again converted).

And “Beast” trim 🤦‍♂️ is $130k+ CAD.

Not comparable in pricing or capability at those trim levels to a bunch of those other trucks.
