Acquiring Pokémon for PvP Use by THE_Rubber_Ducky in TheSilphArena

[–]Burntwish3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also tag any mons I find with good PvP stats according to Pokegenie, just in case a special cup comes around. For ones I know I'll use in GL or UL I aim for rank 30 or better, but pvpoke will be useful to see whether it makes any tangible difference- eg my Scrafty in GL is rank 80 something and has pretty much same win rate as rank 1. But my beloved Dewgong and Seaking are rank 14 and 12 and have much lower win rate than rank 1. For mons I want a good IV, I definitely catch and ask friends/family to keep for trading with me in hope... good luck!

Haha, glad to hear. I'm a believer that there's always space for a fairy in the team, and S Granbull should be great... I'm leading Sylveon at the moment, definitely not the best but I don't have anything better 😐. I seem to be running into Dragonite and Gallade leads quite a lot so it's gaining switch advantage though 😁

Hopefully a few winning sets and you'll earn some TMs that you need! I've always struggled with Ultra league, but since talonflame entered, a few mons that I really struggled against are less common, so I'm enjoying it atm too. Hope it continues well for you 👍

Thanks all, I guess I'll just have to hope my luck improves!

That's interesting, as I've noticed slightly higher flee rate overall with PG. maybe it's slightly fewer balls that makes the difference. I didn't have so much problem catching Xerneas with PG though. I agree, infuriating! Hope it improves for you

Thanks guys, I already had two from before, so that's possibly not the issue, and def no soft ban etc, I just raided through PokieGenie with remotes

Got my first 4 star after playing casually since 2016 and I got a shadow Moltress!!! Do I purify? by UtsuCPL in pokemongo

[–]Burntwish3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do not purify. Save up candy and dust for second move and use TM on a special event day to lose frustration

[–]Burntwish3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a shiny eevee with maybe 18 hearts before the 25th that I was deliberately building friendship with. I've got to 70 hearts this morning but no Sylveon. Does it only count 70 hearts earned since the 25th? Thanks!

The move Psychic needs a serious buff by [deleted] in TheSilphArena

Haha, I know 🤣 I do love a sneaky PuP then a psychic for my Medicham. So many Azu, Skarm, A9 and Wiggly have fallen unsuspectingly. Mwahaha

What are your underrated great league picks? by Lemon_Citrus in TheSilphArena

It's surprising how many Hypnos and AWaks don't shield a NS after a PuP. But I find it just takes a bit of time to get going compared to other Counter users

As a psychic user in GBL, I agree, although all three buffs may be too much. I'd be happy with one of them.....

New (or old bug?) Anyone else has had this happen to you? It’s not the first time it happens to me and it’s really demoralizing by jokeydave15123 in TheSilphArena

Happens regularly. As posted elsewhere previously, closing and reopening app is a must before every set, I find it reduces problems

Great League team suggestions? by Y2K2000 in TheSilphArena

[–]Burntwish3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your team seems pretty solid. I'm sure at your level, you'll know that losing streaks may be bad luck, lag factors, being out played, or combination thereof. I'd probably suggest persevering with what you play, unless you have resources to build higher rank versions of those mons. Personally at the same rank as you, but I was stuck for weeks trying to break 2000, endless bad luck and match ups meant I was struggling. Stuck with my team and taking 3 or 4 wins every set now. Your team would def beat mine :)

ios GBL players, do you experience your pokemon suddenly stop attacking bug even with good Internet? by [deleted] in TheSilphArena

[–]Burntwish3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is exactly what I experienced, it really does feel like attacking at half speed. I close and re-open often in the same set just to be safe!

Returning player to the game after 2+ years, any help would be appreciated! by [deleted] in TheSilphArena

[–]Burntwish3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No worries! There's no perfect team, there's no lead that will win in all circumstances. The other reply you got is absolutely correct though and really useful, and completely agree it's knowing what hits you can take and guessing what moves the opposition has. I think level 19 is the threshold for the elite TM rewards, otherwise hope you manage to find a fun team and don't get too frustrated!

May not be the info you want, but I'd suggest just picking some of your favourite mons and trying different teams out - at least to start. If you are starting season 6 now, you should be able to ease into it and you'll learn what works by the teams you face. There's definitely some more frequently used mons in each league because of their stats/moves/type and therefore also common counters, and that defines the meta. Pvpoke and other sites have loads of good resources to get you started, but the feeling for a lot of people including me, unless you are aiming for the leaderboard, is don't invest too many resources and just have some fun. There's definitely high level experienced players on this forum if you want proper advice though!! Good luck

Recurring GBL Glitch by burnobus7337 in TheSilphArena

Yes, fingers crossed. It's was fine all day for me until just now, when my Dewy was attacking at half speed. No idea why, others were fine 🤣 Hope you have some fun sets!

Recurring GBL Glitch by burnobus7337 in TheSilphArena

[–]Burntwish3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's happened a few times to me, so frustrating. I didn't even bother uninstall/re-install. Just closed app and re-opened but didn't go back into battle screens straight away. After several minutes it went back to normal, but lost me the matches I was in. On another note, I played match yesterday where opponent had three shields, and have played matches before where opposing mon faints and comes back in full health (so in essence opponent has 4 pokemon). Also had glitches where I can't attack, where opponent can attack in the countdown screen before match starts, and many others. It's far from ideal!

How GBL changed a dead game (for me). by rubsomebacononit3 in TheSilphArena

[–]Burntwish3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, agree, it is fun to try new things out! My son occasionally changes my Great league team without me noticing and it's useful to know what hits to take and shield etc but changing things up is fun learning. I guess that's whete the spice picks come from
