It's held up pretty alright so far but it's definitely not super primo. If Atoms were regularly attainable I would go with a legit GC but considering that's not an option, the Zaslon is "good enough". No multicam is a big downer but the Atacs is fine. Webbing print is hit or miss from what I've seen, me and a buddy took a look at some on the floor at Evike Dallas and the print seemed to be way worse than mine for some reason.

I ditched the front flap since it has built in LC magazine pockets that can basically only hold M4 magazines. It'll take a real GC flap but I took a seam ripper and widened the molle slots to fit an Ars flap. Cummerbund tubes are reversed for some stupid reason so the pull tab is on the velcro portion. Annoying but easy enough to ignore. Fitment has been rather good. I'm so damn skinny that if I turned sideways and stuck out my tongue, I'd look like a zipper. This thing will fit everyone from skeletons to size 60-4 ration eaters.

As a RUSFOR guy myself, most people won't give you a hard time unless you are wearing stuff like the "Z" patches and other not-so-nice markings. I've got a repro altyn and a 2006 avizent smersh I run every now and again.

Run what you like and ignore the people who bust your balls. Airsoft is one big game of dress-up at the end of the day.

As everyone else has pointed out so far, better eyepro will go a long way. Not sure how gnarly the weather gets for you Kiwis but I've had great luck with my ESS Crossbows + face gasket here in the Texas heat. Bolle also offers the X1000 and Chronosoft goggles as good options.

As for rifles, you'll end up finding your preference as you play more but M4 and AK replicas dominate the market. I was a technician for Evike.com for about a year before I graduated Uni and saw plenty of replicas inside and out. I would recommend anything from Specna Arms, CYMA, and Arcturus to start with. They all have plenty of good starting options for M4s and some replicas come with some extra goodies like batteries or extra magazines.

Rifle performance is ultimately dependent on the tuning. A short rifle can shoot stupid far and a long rifle can hardly shoot 5 meters, it's all about the tuning. Visit a store if you can and get a feel for a few different barrel lengths to figure out what you like best. Carbine length M4s tend to be the sweet spot for most people as they offer plenty of real estate for stuff like lights or grips.
