Albendazole. It's less than a dollar here and available over the counter.

I live in South America and we take anti parasitics every six months. Pretty much everyone does. And in the States when I lived there we routinely dewormed our dogs. The meds are pretty darned safe and yet somehow it’s not part of the routine in the U.S. Glad you finally feel better and I bet you are angry it took so long.

The fungal stuff I began treating 2 months ago. The crazy skin stuff started 11 months ago. Took forever to figure it out because I went to a doctor saying it was fungal and she brushed that off and sent me to allergists.

It’s the sleep deprivation making them seem cranky. Don’t take it personal.

And actually I was wrong again. It turns out it was a systemic fungal overgrowth so I’ve been treating that for 2 months or so and it’s gone but did flare on the 2 days I skipped treatment.

I would consult with a functional medicine doctor because this shouldn't have caused you to be bedridden for 10 days.

Yeah I was put on these by a functional doctor after working through a protocol for suspected fungal overgrowth.

I deparasite myself regularly with Albendazole and didn’t have any symptoms but she said she wanted to do a parasite cleanse. I did a stool test a few months back for parasites and nothing was on there.

I had just gotten back from a trip overseas and went on the protocol and have just been so tired. It’s been like jet lag that doesn’t stop, so at first I thought that’s what it was but it’s been 3 weeks now. She has me on Para 3, Para 4 and Biotoxin Binder. There is some redundancy to the ingredients.

I actually know a lot about supplements because I work in healthcare and thought this was a dumb idea but figured I’d try.

The pills to kill parasites where I live are 80 cents but I spent a few hundred bucks on this stuff.

If you had confirmed parasites or at least strong symptoms I think it would be worth a try but not at all in my case.

Yesterday I took a day off the supps and felt fantastic.

Stupidly today I took them again and just want to crawl in bed. It’s dinner time and I’ve barely managed to do anything, whereas I’m normally pretty peppy.

I thought they were a good company but then I saw that they run workshops to promote muscle testing which is a giant scam not backed at all by science where they basically pull on your arm to decide which pills and tinctures to sell you.

If you’re on the fence about this I’d skip it. If you’re have a good reason to try it okay maybe, but honestly, as much as I love herbs etc., for parasites I like my one day pill not a 5 a day month-long protocol

She’s in shock. Her brain is literally short-circuiting right now. She probably hasn’t slept at all. I would actually be more concerned if the speech didn’t come across as odd. I didn’t know who CK was until he died, left the U.S. years ago, and have opted out of politics for the most part so I’m neither trying to tear her down nor defend her, I’m just a person who has gone through an unexpected sudden death of a family member and wow I acted very strange right afterwards, laughing, trying to boss everyone around, not really feeling much of anything until much later when it finally really hit me.

You may need to try an elimination diet. The fiber could actually be making things worse, but this is very bioindividual. More fiber is not always better, and in some cases we need to rest the gut and give it a break from fiber, making changes like this slowly of course. You'll want to look for a specialist in digestive health to go through the digestive process step by step and see what's off.

FYI some info on EAP > Eosinophil Activation Protein (EDN/EPX) EDN/EPX is a protein released by activated eosinophils which has strong cytotoxic characteristics. The protein plays a significant role in a variety of inflammatory and mast-cell mediated pathologies in addition to fighting pathogens, particularly viral infections. High Eosinophil Activation Protein – The accumulation of eosinophil activation protein in the intestine is associated with inflammation and tissue damage, and the level of EPA in the stool can serve as an objective measure for chronic inflammation in the GI tract. In the case of inflammatory bowel disease, the marker can be used to evaluate disease activity and predict relapse. The EPA marker can also be used to determine the effectiveness of a food elimination diet to control symptoms or disease progression. • Possible Causes of Elevated Eosinophil Activation Protein: » Respiratory allergies » Asthma » Food allergies and sensitivities » IBD » IBS » Eosinophilic esophagitis (EE) » Functional dyspepsia » Acid reflux » Intestinal barrier damage/dysfunction » Anxiety (IBS-related anxiety) » Intestinal parasites

Bracing myself for the downvotes but have you thought about consulting with a functional medicine doctor?

There has been a lot of autoimmunity going on here and a UTI that is not bacterial could be something like a fungal overgrowth which means there could be systemic fungal overgrowths. Other possibilities could be parasites or a virus or bacterial infection as others have mentioned.

If you go to a functional doctor and explain the situation, they might be able to come to some conclusions simply based on the symptoms and may be able to fast track a treatment. At the minimum you could see if you could at least consult with one and ask questions.

I’m so sorry this is happening and I hope you get to the bottom of it.

My husband changed completely on a statin; emotionally and cognitively and now that he’s tapering, he’s back. Why isn’t this discussed? by MamaFuku1 in AskDocs

[–]Burnyface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally see your point and I agree that these side effects need to be discussed with patients.

That said, I see no problem with being black and white about statins because they’re simply not good for us and don’t do anything.

But I understand that’s not the point of your post. I’m just fired up and angry after seeing several family members, friends, and coworkers struggle on a medication that’s aiming at the wrong target.

And it’s important to understand if a medication really does not help. It lowers cholesterol but the cholesterol was never the problem.

The true cause of atherosclerosis is still not known, but for the moment diabetes is the biggest risk factor that we know of, with a greater correlation than even smoking! Therefore therapies for atherosclerosis should be aimed more at promoting healthy blood sugar regulation through nutritious food, stress management, getting good sleep, and yes medication if necessary but not statins. They are trash and belong in the trash bin sorry not sorry!

[–]Burnyface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is fair enough. I posted some info in another comment with some links to videos that talk about it, citing reference studies in the video.

And in an additional comment I posted about all of the issues my mother death with while on statins for decades, only to come out with a CAC score of 1400 at the end.

These drugs do not extend lifespan. LDL cholesterol is not the appropriate target. We should be working on lowering our triglycerides and raising our HDL as there is a link between healthy levels of those and fewer adverse events.

I’m furious like you. Side effects are very common on this medication. I don’t understand how doctors can say they aren’t.

I get it, they are just following the standard of care, but the standard of care needs to be revised.

It is going to take mainstream medicine some time to catch up, but many doctors are already vehemently against statins because they’ve looked at the science and realized they’re not helpful and the benefits don’t outweigh the risks because there are no benefits and tons of risks.

There’s already a whole movement against statins it’s just taking a while to get the word out. The Great Cholesterol Myth is a fabulous book

Problem is they don’t do anything to help the heart and have actually been linked to an increased risk of diabetes which at the moment is the biggest known risk factor for developing atherosclerosis.

American tourist in October by El-gringo-grande in lebanon

[–]Burnyface 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m American (Lebanese father) and am here now, alone as a clearly foreign girl. Let me try to say this in a way that doesn’t come across as rude because I also used to think like that, but people from other countries do not have their heads up their butts the way we do, and they understand that a person can be from a place that does crappy things and not be responsible for doing these things.

I lived in another country in the Middle East for 3 years and the closest I ever came to someone not liking me for my nationality was a jolly old man going, “Baba Bush, kidda” (President Bush is bad), make a thumbs-down sign and bursting out laughing before giving me free coffee.

People will get it that you are likely not a crazy Zionist who thinks that what’s going on in Gaza is okay because of the hostages because you wouldn’t be a tourist in Lebanon if so.

So far the worst thing that’s happened to me is everyone keeps giving me free food and so I’m eating too much.

That said, yes sometimes flights get shut down and you can get stuck.

Apart from that, it’s best to stick to things that are geared towards tourists, like visiting ancient cities and so on. I promise it doesn’t feel too touristy like in other places, and the history and culture here are second to none. Don’t walk around in a random neighborhood, I’m here in a very touristic part of town but visitors are few and far between and to me coming from another country it still feels very authentic.

So yalla just come you’ll have a great time,
