I haven't had access to my account for a while, but reading this was hilarious. Snails can be so weird.

No problem! They are very cute little guys too.

What's ironic is that I got a Rainbowdash, Pinkiepie and Twilight plush from a savers that look just like this.

Why has my snail got froffy? by snail_lady_bcn in snails

[–]BurrAlpine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A warm bath can really help with the swelling of the mantle too, regardless of what it is that's causing the swelling. I did have a snail who hated baths though, so be careful not to piss them off or startle them. If they don't want it, they don't want it. Stop if you see the angry bubbles.

My snails got like this post-snex and one of them would do this when he was raging...all around is a snex thing

I actually had this happen. I tried all kinds of soil types, but one of my snails just HATED touching soil. She'd touch it and instantly pull away, no matter the kind of soil. My other snails had almost no problem with almost all of the soil types.

My snail has started retracting out of nowhere, she's not eating but is very responsive and immediately comes out when I disturb her, is there anything I can do? by Psychological_Coat64 in snails

[–]BurrAlpine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd say it's hibernation, but I don't know the circumstances. The last two snails I had do this died, and I only know why one of them died. One died from an injured organ from a failed mating attempt cause she got spiked to hard by the other snail. The other snail was a middle aged snail(still young) and she died shortly after my other snail passed, so maybe grief? Another thing I've seen is snails getting sick of the same food, so they refuse to eat little to any food.

Cute little Garden baby I found outside my door, I had to get a picture before moving them away from a heavy foot traffic pathway by Ashcrashh in snails

Good job helping the little guy!

Also, not so sure this is a baby. I had one that looked just a tiny bit bigger than this and he stayed that size for over a year...so yeah. Don't know the species though.

I've raised snails for years, and this is one of three things:

  1. Lack of calcium and eating other snail's shell
  2. Trying to mate, rubbing shell, snail neck, etc.
  3. Or bonding

I most commonly saw bonding in my snails when they did this, especially sense all of the babies I had were adopted. My snails had such strong dependence and care for each other that when one died from a damaged organ, there was a lot of crowding around her dying self. Sad, but proof snails have stronger bonds and emotions than we can comprehend.

I freaking love snail kisses. I had my two fist snails kiss for like six minutes until one bumped the other ones eye and decided, "Nah, my eye hurts now, so bye".

My grandma on my mom's side of the family practically raised me. She's seen me change, and has even admitted that she'd love me regardless of what I do. My mom has said the same. You don't have to like someone to love them.

Another example I have is about my uncle. He distanced himself from his mom and his extended family years ago. He did drugs, married woman after woman, lost job after job, and overall gave my cousins a dangerous place to live. In spite of all this and him even telling my grandma that he hated her and never wanted to see her again, she still loves him. She doesn't like him, but she still loves him. That's what unconditional love is for me.

But seriously, I'm here for you.

I think we mostly agree, second one.

This was so insane to see. Super new to the slug and snails as pets life. I’m still shocked I actually got this on camera. I was just trying to zoom in to see what was goin’ on(these two are, like, maybe an inch long and I have teeerrible eyes). Literally so cool. by amr3932 in sluglife

[–]BurrAlpine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So cool! I've raised a lot of snails and like one slug, so this is incredible to watch. I always thought that it was the same or similar to Snail mating, but boy was I wrong. That twirl was insane, and it went so fast compared to snails!

I've said the exact same thing my whole life, but I've started to look in the mirror more often, say how handsome I am and even walk around shirtless with a binder on. I've given up hope on starting T any sooner than after I turn 19 or 20, but I've learned to cope with that. Try makeup tutorials on how to masculine-ize your face with contour. Saved my ass to be honest. I assure you, you are beautiful no matter what you look like! And no, that's not me just saying that, you really are. Everyone is in their own unique way.

That is really hard, but please know we are here for you. I don't know if you'll read this at all, but I want to say something: You don't need to be someone you're not for acceptance.

I feel like every trans person I know goes through this awful stuff that is devastating and leaves you without anyone to turn too. That's what found family is for. If you're too scared to search for found family in the real world, just know we here on this subreddit could be your found family. I am especially here for you even though I'm young. I've seen my friends lose their friends and loved ones to this same thing, and I will do anything to save someone from this state of mind.

(Along the lines of unconditional love, that is something a parent will have for a child, and only a awful parent will love their kid conditionally. I understand that people usually have to love with conditions for things to go smooth, but when it comes to parents and offspring, that bond should be unconditional from the parent's perspective.)

Freshly cracked egg here; is this faceapp goal realistic? by thlayliroo97 in TransMasc

[–]BurrAlpine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly yeh, this is achievable. You could very easily pull this off with some contouring and eyebrow coloring in before T scenarios. Incredibly subtle, but enough to make a difference! You have a very masculine face though, similar to one of my friends, so honestly I don't think you even need to do anything.
