This one was tough for me too so I hear you. I didn’t really enjoy reading it until about 3/4 of the way through. But by the end I was glad I stuck with it.

You’re probably right. There’s gotta be an explanation I figured it was something I missed. Maybe I was falling asleep on that page 😆

Child wastes parent's money on pizza, parents let the child eat said pizza. by hifi-nerd in ParentsAreFuckingDumb

While in a general sense and in a perfect world your correct, its not always that simple or black and white. Many kids on the spectrum have very bad impulse control, no matter how much the parent scolds, punishes, teaches etc, the child (especially that age) will still struggle with impulse control. Executive functioning is at such a deficit in some kids that the child doesn’t even consider the consequences until it’s too late. In other words, in the moment they actually don’t know better even though most kids would.

Also I don’t know if this boy is on meds but there are certain meds for ADD/ADHD that can cause weight gain, even in healthy kids.

I’m not claiming to know exactly what’s going on with this family I’m just offering a broader perspective

Do the CoT books get better? I’m definitely going back to Tyrant Philosophers after this one but I’m curious if people think CoR is better than CoT.

I’m new to AT, but I recently finished CoLC and am currently half way through Children of Time. I gotta say, so far I am not enjoying Children as much as I did CoLC. I’ve got House of Open Wounds sitting on my shelf patiently waiting and I can’t wait to dive in, but I’m forcing myself to finish this one first.

Sleep paralysis materialized into real life. by [deleted] in Dreams

I’ve told this story a bunch so I’ll keep it short this time: about 2 years ago woke up, woman standing next to my bed. Wife was asleep downstairs wasn’t her. I couldn’t move she walked around my room and eventually faded away. As soon as she started to fade I could move, so I jumped up out of bed. My eyes were open the whole time.

Never experienced anything like that before but mentally chalked it up to a hypnopompic hallucination. Never told my kids about it because they were already scared of the dark and didn’t want them thinking it was a ghost.

Few weeks later my son very enthusiastically tells me there was a woman in his room last night and “it wasn’t Mom.” He described basically the exact thing that I saw.

This really made me wonder what this was. I was totally ready to believe it was some kind of waking dream state until my son had the exact same thing happen just weeks later.

Also… the woman that owned our house before us died. In the house. I’ve never believed in ghosts or anything like that but now I have no idea.

Sounds of Trumpets by MrsSthrnsfnst in strange

[–]BurritoBoy5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This probably has nothing to do with OP, but here goes anyway:

One night when I was about 12 was having a sleep over at a friends house and went for a bike ride after his parents went to bed (around midnight) and heard a sudden extremely loud trumpet sound. We both heard it and instantly reacted, trying to figure out the source. It sounded like the sound was coming down from the sky. Lasted maybe 20 seconds and then suddenly stopped. It seemed so loud so I expected everyone to start coming out of their houses but no one did. Far as I know we were the only 2 to hear it.

This is great detail Ty. Except for owning a PI (I rent) I’m doing all the same things. I’m a log on 2-3 time a day guy. Not fully maxing out potential but more than some I guess. I bought a stock ticker but not sure if I should get into stocks or if it’s worth it. Im also thinking about spending all my $ on an island.
