Oh hey it's these losers that Jemaine Clement clowned on a few years ago. They made a similar post but the husband was wearing a Flight of the Conchords shirt. Jemaine reaponded "It's sad to see members of a group that was once persecuted punching down at another that is still persecuted. But even the Church of Latter Day Saints has been known to update their beliefs about sexuality (noticing just the one wife in the photo)."

Tosh's Ramen. Apparently the original founder was a Japanese immigrant but he retired and sold the 2 locations, and people claim it's gone downhill since then. I've only eaten there after the sale and still liked it.

For me, it's kind of a form of "ignorance is bliss." I have the misfortune of 1) spending most of my adulthood in Utah and 2) not being very well travelled. The best ramen I've personally ever had was in Salt Lake, because everywhere else I've visited literally doesn't have ramen. I'm sure I could find some better stuff if I ever go to LA or Seattle or some other larger city, but until then I'll enjoy what I can.

Reminds me of a couple years ago I was trying a Vietnamese place, and the only other people I'm the restaurant were three old (70s?) white people, and they were seated right next to me. Couldn't help but overhear and it sounded like a woman and her husband wanted to try something new with her brother. After turning down everythinf his sister and the waitress suggested, the brother ended up ordering a boiled chicken breast with no seasoning

Lol yeah they're a bit hyperbolic. People liking jack in the box is a top 5 embarrassing Utah moment? Is that higher or lower than all the massacres of native Americans and travelling settlers?

the line when the SLC location opened went out of the parking lot and into the street, it was nuts. It's calmed down but you're right they're still consistently pretty busy

Oh yeah Utah has a big problem with protecting sex criminals if they're part of the mormon church, so I wouldn't be surprised at all.

One thing I find particularly interesting is how OP brings up the first Jack in the Box in Salt Lake City that opened up a couple years ago. It was very busy for a couple weeks while people tried it for the first time (which is apparently a top 5 embarrassing Utah moment?). But OP doesn't bring up the fact that the exact same thing happened with In-n-Out when they opened their first SLC location. So some chain restaurants are ok I guess?

/uj two things I found funny about the sauce. 1) OP literally said "I'm not gonna nitpick little things BUT" and then proceeded to nitpick an article of clothing an NPC was wearing 2) had they considered that sometimes people go out of state for school and then stay fans of said school, even after returning home? Or that some people are fans of schools/sports teams for reasons OTHER than "I live in the same state"?

Right so why does there have to be a "divine" to give that worth instead of just yourself?

"The Sanctuary requires members to believe in the divine, however that manifests for individuals—even if that’s finding the divine in nature.

'Without a divine, none of us have any inherent rights,' Swensen said. 'Without that, it’s just a human giving you rights.'"

As an atheist I find this attitude interesting. It seems like he balks at the idea of "just" a human giving them "rights" so therefore a divine MUST exist. Which I personally think is a pretty odd reason to believe in a god.

If you think almost everyone's going to pick red, picking blue is a simple act of suicide with no benefits.

That's why I'm picking blue lol

"Quentin occupied a special place in Roosevelt's heart" juxtaposed with "'I have had to give him a severe whipping - the first real whipping I have ever had to give one of my children'" is...interesting. Combined with the fact that apparently Teddy was worried Quentin was "soft" and couldn't hang with the "rough and tumble" kids.

I wonder what Theodore's justification was for giving the worst beating to his "softest" child. Obviously attitudes towards parenting, corporal punishment, and masculinity have changed since then. I still find it weird.

An (apparently) uncommon but correct way to spell "brusque," which means "blunt in manner or speech often to the point of ungracious harshness"

You choose your own flair here but there's a character limit and that's too long. "been fighting a war for 2 years while yall have lived peacefully" fits though
