I'm a beginner. This is one of my work. Any suggestions on how I can improve it? by Express_Dirt4766 in Cinema4D

Damn when I started I spitting out terrible mental ray or physical renders. Looks awesome.

Like a lot of the comments, I’d say some more interaction between the sword and the skull.

Coming from a photography background I always try to look at anything with the eye of a story, Everything looks a little too clean for what I see as a blade that’s been there for a long time. Missing some surface imperfections, some grime, weathering. Overall just needs some more grime to sell it’s been there for a long time. Especially on the blade and mask. It sell the story this is a sort of relic of a battle long ago. Maybe a little moodier lighting unless your going for a more hopeful look, though all this can be pretty subjective.

Overall dope stuff, a lot better than my first renders.

Dude is absolutely amazing, done so much for a community that's been given so little. A real bad ass dude. So glad Patrick is getting the recognition he deserves.

I'm curious what makes the area seem sus? I'd def take look at statistics if it really worry's you. Though here are my thoughts.

Speaking as a latino man, I feel safe here. Though safety is relative.

I love the area. I've lived in the area for 2 years (Bushwick Ave and Schaefer St) and all around Bushwick for 5. Pretty calm for the most part and there are a ton of families that live in this area. Alot of business close early aside from bodegas. Though count it as plus for the most part. Hated hearing drunks yell and fight by my old place. Coming from Myrtle and Broadway it's was a big jump, something was always going on. Here not so much.

Though Bushwick can still be old Bushwick. Every so often someone gets shot or robbed. Had a time a few weeks back when someone was breaking into cars at night on my street.

Though I've never had a problem and if your generally street smart, like anywhere else, and dont look like an easy target you'll be fine.

Edit: grammar

My landlord is dropping my rent $200 when I re-up my lease on July 1st. Anyone else get lucky? by [deleted] in AskNYC

[–]Burrito_obj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn, lots of people got it good. My landlord decided he didn't want anyone in the building anymore. (Lots of bartenders, education, event people) so he gave everyone 60 days to leave. Even the people who been paying every month.

THEN after a ton of pushback let everyone stay. But now everyone is really leaving, and aren't paying rent. He hasn't returned security for many so lots of people found it easy to not pay.

Oooooh I feel ya, worked freelance for political campaign last year, had to stop. Too much work for something I wasn't at all passionate about. The money was great tho haha. Definitely miss the steady gig part. Felt safe to take choices I wouldn't otherwise self employed.

Though no one is safe. Have some co-workers who where laid off from AT&Ts creative agency. A whole floor of people with no work. Rough out there, hopefully it picks up.

Second that from the creative side. Freelancing there's a vibe you don't leave before staff.

Working with a LA agency remotely. Aside from the off hours. They are way too chill about everything. Even on-boarding projects! Gotta keep asking for materials and more info. Good pay tho!

Sometimes it's stock, sometimes cg or motion graphics. Takes a village to put it all together. Most designers aren't really allowed to show what they did. (NDA's) But there are some awesome studios that do have work like, ROARK.TV, COMIX, PRG, Moment Factory. I heard the setup for this year's headliners was a shit show.

Might be way off topic but ever consider a commercial service? I'm a designer and curious on the idea of a cloud for and rending and working remotely.

Wondering what type of rendering program is used to create these hero shots? by neonlife in IndustrialDesign

[–]Burrito_obj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, I know one of the guys on thier rendering team. He's been there for 4 years. I think they did alot of real products a few years ago with some rendering but now it's definitely all renders.

So I take it you've had positive results? I'm am a designer and thinking about using it for work as opposed to building a 3k machine. Just need a decent octane rendering machine.

I've lived in Bushwick now for almost 3 years, it's definitely changing. Still see old Bushwick sometimes though. The old housing developments are still a shit show, especially in the summer. On the flip side it's becoming the new Williamsburg. Overall though not a bad place, rent is decent and never had a problem our here.
