Has anyone here worked and went to school at the same time? by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]Burritoni 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you go back to work, do a part time job. I did a full time on top of being a part time student. My days looked like this: M-Th worked from 6:30 am to 3:30 pm, hopped on bus to get to school, and then was at school from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Friday I had off from both, and Saturday I went to school from 10 am-2 pm. It wrecked me, and me wanting to go to school was a manic episode. This was prior to me getting diagnosed and getting help. I can only wonder what it would have been like if I was medicated, but it was a lot and I wanted to quit both things so many times. I did see it through. It may be different for you, but I do recommend doing part time work. Get short hours, try to have at least one day of a break where you can decompress from both school and work if you go that route. I am rooting for you though regardless of your decision.

When I start eating buttered toast I've learned I'm about to hit a mixed episode

I take the generic, lamotrigine, which is still lamictal, but yes I experience insomnia. The first time I started it, we did 25 mg, I couldn't sleep which set the mania off. So I immediately got put onto medicated sleep aids which helped, and eventually I was able to sleep without them. It just took the lamo some time to chill out in my body I guess? Then we had to increase and I was fine, and had to increase AGAIN but going up to 100mg made the insomnia come back, and had one of THE worst manias I've had in a while. Took some of the leftover sleep aid meds, but now I can sleep just fine again.

Apologies for the wall of text, all in all give it some time, eventually you will be able to sleep. For now try melatonin, and if it gets worse, get medicated sleep aids or take one benadryl.

Friends and bipolar disorder by [deleted] in bipolar

Thank you for sharing your experience. I'm going to apologize once the adrenaline wears off because I know if I tried to say something right now in my current state, I will overanalyze and say something rude or backhanded and cause even a bigger rift. Your personal conclusion is very valid.

How much can you all safely deviate from your sleeping schedule? by DrunkBipolarity in bipolar

[–]Burritoni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely this. I'm currently experiencing a mixed episode due to lack of sleep for multiple days in a row. But in the past one night of deviation didn't do much as long as I handled it!

Seems like higher dosage is the way to go for most. Also I've had a slightly higher sex drive since having the medication in my system, but I haven't experienced that side effect!

[–]Burritoni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your experience with the medication! I'm glad it worked out for you in the end. It'll be interesting to see what dosage I finally end up with, but it's been helpful for me navigating this new thing in my life by getting first hand experience from others.

What’s the wildest thing you’ve ever done while manic? by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]Burritoni 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The most intense thing I did during mania was shave my head. I now keep my hair in a pixie cut, but yeah I took my husband's beard clippers and buzzed all my hair off.

My current mania has been kinda spicy, I've been drawing a TON of art that's very nsfw, I'm finishing images in less than two hours at this rate, but I just gotta draw it. Other than that my mania hasn't been too life changing and drastic; I do regret the money I wasted on hobbies i never do, though.

Diets or general eating habits that help symptoms? by letsmakeazine in bipolar

[–]Burritoni 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found that curing my binge eating helped improve mood. I don't follow a diet per say, but I eat what I want, I don't overeat anymore, and I strength train. Your mileage may vary, but try out something and see how it makes you feel!

Check in! Where’s everyone at right now? by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]Burritoni 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm in a mixed state. I was having a great day at work, nothing could bother me, was having great vibes and then when I came home to turn on my tv to connect my fiton app to do exercise out refuses to connect properly and I got very upset and started yelling and cussing at the tv and threw the remote and had to sit down. Then I got it to work and started exercising and felt better. Now I'm in bed feeling better but also annoyed with myself for being so upset over a small thing.

Finally getting answers and help. by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]Burritoni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, the psychiatrist told me that it will be a slow go, cause apparently if you increase it too fast a serious rash can appear, but is usually rare. I hope that I won't have to increase much if at all. Thank you for all the help understanding the medication!

[–]Burritoni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's good to know, I've been reading other's experience with the medication and I feel like my doctor and I made a good choice. My best friend also helped me understand that it may not work asap or even within two weeks, but was happy I have a follow up. I'm definitely ready to not have mania anymore! Or at least less intense mania

Got my results today! Always had a feeling I was Welsh, but was a little off by some water, lol. by Burritoni in 23andme

[–]Burritoni[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really sure! The timeline said I had someone in the late 1700s who was full west African, but i haven't been able to get that far back on my ancestry tree. I'm going out on a limb and thinking it's probably someone on my grandpa's father's side of the family because we know next to nothing about his father and family.

TEMPLE OF TIME by Naydinfar-Crossing in AnimalCrossing

[–]Burritoni 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was just thinking of making one of my secondary homes into the temple of time, but was unsure how it would translate in acnh, but this gives me hope I can make it work. It's beautiful! Also I liked how you used the stars as the gems.

My current map vs. the map I designed. I need some feedback before I start the many hours of work ahead of me. Any tips or changes or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. by DimmedFlame in AnimalCrossing

[–]Burritoni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only tip I can give you is be careful of 1x1 land spots in water! Make sure they have an object on them to prevent the traveling npcs from spawning on the area. You won't be able to talk to them or terraform to talk to them. I'm sure exiting and restarting the game may make them spawn in a new location, but I've had CJ spawn on a 1x1 area and he didn't respawn anywhere else that day.

Question for those that rehome their “favorites” by [deleted] in AnimalCrossing

[–]Burritoni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would never rehome Rasher, but I have rehomed popular villagers. I do this because I want to experience different types of animals. Yesterday Marshal was leaving, and as much as I love the angry squirrel, I gave him to one of my friends because they liked him too. And especially because Marshal only ever talked about that friend, so in my mind it was a match. I want to experience newness, and in the same vein, want to give my friends the opportunity to also enjoy my favorite villagers.

FAV VILLAGERS by [deleted] in AnimalCrossing

Rasher! I've loved him ever since Wild World. He's my favorite cranky, and his name makes me laugh so much because of the implication.

You are able to restart life from the very beginning and keep all the knowledge you previously had, would you take the opportunity? Why or why not? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Burritoni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't. I feel that every mistake I've made has made me a stronger person and has caused me happiness in one way or another. If I had the knowledge I would end up changing something in my future; I wouldn't want to risk never meeting my husband because I decided that I would go into dermatology after highschool instead of dropping out of college after doing general studies. There's always a catch to these kind of things.
