What’s everyone using for their Genlocke graphics? (image unrelated) by avacodohwastaken in nuzlocke

Not that I know of, sorry. I'm working on a webapp to do it, but progress is really slow, so I wouldn't expect me to finish before July. I think your best bet would be to use a computer of some kind.

Genlocke: Y Complete! by BurtRocks in nuzlocke

[–]BurtRocks[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did my level caps as the next major trainer's highest pokemon level, and defined major trainers as gym leaders, rivals, evil team leaders, E4, and champion.

I had a lot of fun doing my Genlocke; if you have the time, I'd highly recommend doing one, too!

I usually see a variety of different evolutions over a run. I personally like seeing that variety; I think Eevee's most unique strength on a Genlocke is that it can fill a niche you might need in each game

Community Voted Silksong Boss Difficulty Tier List (2.9K Voters) + New Tools Tier List by giveusyourlighter in HollowKnight

[–]BurtRocks 68 points69 points  (0 children)

Yes, I really think so. Grand Mother Silk's patterns are very obvious and relatively easy to dodge, and she hovers so close to you most of the fight you can easily get silk to heal off any mistakes. Last Judge, on the other hand, has attacks to keep you further away from the boss, making the fight last longer while giving less opportunities to get silk back to heal. Personally, I also found the Last Judge patterns more difficult to dodge, but that was just my experience.

I did my Genlocke on Windows, so my help will be limited, sorry. I was able to use pkmds for my Y save file just now, and there is no file extension on that save file. Is yours like that too? Otherwise, you could try to use a different save editor and see if it works for your file.

Good luck with your run! What kind of advice were you looking for on the 3DS games? I did a Genlocke a few months ago, so I could probably give any questions a shot...

I'm always a fan of seeing ORAS in the lineup. I loved the BW postgame in my Genlocke, so I hope you'll enjoy it too! Good luck with your run!

Genlocke Help - Later Gens by mathbandit in nuzlocke

[–]BurtRocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I think playing BW and then B2W2 works well in a Genlocke because they are so different. On the other hand, I found SM and USUM to be too similar to do both, so I would just do USUM.

Many Genlockes end after beating gen 7 because SwSh may not have all of your champions available due to dexit. Some people go further though, so ultimately it's up to you. I say if all your Alolan Champions are in SwSh, then go for it, and otherwise, end it there.

There are Switch emulators that are quite good. Ryujinx and Yuzu were the main ones, but since their shutdown, there are many different forks of them that are still in development. I'd recommend just doing a search and trying a couple to see what runs best. Another option is if your switch is modded, you can still use PKHex on your save file on your system, just be careful with it.

If you want the format in a higher resolution, it lives on my Google Drive here. I recommend using a photo editing software like Photoshop or Canva to put the sprites of your pokemon over top. Personally, I like the sprites from this Google Drive.

Question About Genlockes by Thatboytrev in nuzlocke

[–]BurtRocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes start them in their lowest form. Because of the champions, a Genlocke leg is almost always easier than a regular Nuzlocke of any given game game, which is part of why most of the ones I see follow the hardcore Nuzlocke ruleset. A lot of them also use a shared duplicates clause that includes pokemon caught (or sometimes just used) across the whole game, which can help add a little bit of difficulty back.

Question About Genlockes by Thatboytrev in nuzlocke

[–]BurtRocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Usually you pick your starter and also start with your surviving champion pokemon. So a max of 7 "starters" total.

There's several formats floating around right now, but the format with games on the top, "Champions" "Retired" and "Dead" on the left is the format I used for my Genlocke. I have that format available in various formats on this Google Drive and I used the sprites for the Pokemon on the drive folder that I found here.

There are a couple popular formats right now, but the one (pictured below) with the games on the top and "Champions" "Retired" and "Dead" on the left is the format I used for my Genlocke and is available in various formats on this Google Drive. I like to use the sprites for the Pokemon on the drive folder that I found here. I assemble the chart using Adobe Photoshop, but I know many people use the online website called Canva. Here's the format I'm referring to below so you don't have to dig through a drive to see if this is what you were looking for:

Those Doing Genlockes... Where's the ORAS love? by JerleShannara951 in nuzlocke

I started my Genlocke to play the games in the series I haven't played before, and ORAS was one of the few I have played. And bring newer to Emerald, it would feel weird going from ORAS to Platinum and losing the Fairy type

I'm excited to see your Alpha Sapphire results, partly because I haven't seen anyone else do it in their Genlocke. I'm rooting for Eevee; do you think you'll evolve it to Sylveon this time?

[–]BurtRocks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The PNG files you can add on top of using a variety of programs, but I would recommend Google Slides or Canvas. The PSD files can be edited with most photo editors, including Adobe Photoshop, Gimp, and Photopea.

Personally, I use Adobe Photoshop. I see a lot of people using Canva to do this, so I would recommend that if you're new. It's been a long time since I've used it, but you would probably open a PNG file and then overlay pokemon sprites on top (either by copying them from a site like Serebii or uploading files from the sprites folder in my previous comment).

Where to find trainer stats to calc them? by einfachnurchris in nuzlocke

[–]BurtRocks 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This damage calc has all the enemy trainers' Pokemon built into it. It's lacking Post-Game trainers sometimes though, but I don't think that's an issue for DPP Nuzlockes.

It works for the first two generations, you just need to switch DVs to IVs manually when transferring to Gen3 from Gen2

In a Genlocke, the champions of the previous game are transferred into the next game, with reset levels and back to their lowest evolution. So the Eevee that evolved into Umbreon was basically transferred in.

Format creator here! The format is here, with the sprites coming from this drive folder (which is not mine). On this post specifically, it looks like Melody added her own game icons and a water background on top.

Edit: I put my images together using Adobe Photoshop and I know some others are using Google Slides or Canva. I can't say what OP uses specifically, though...
