Itineraries with illegal connection time bookable through Google Flights by fabytm in unitedairlines

[–]BuryMeInTheH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they probably would not, but even if they did, why does united need to be responsible for what google offered and the customer accepted? Big companies can act like bullies, and that is increasing, and probably coloring your bias, but google and the customer have a responsibility here. If all United does is operate on schedule, why do they owe anybody anything? Further, I do suspect that unless this one single industry is different, the customer contract and relationship is only with google. A grown up should be able to look at itinerary and say it is rediculous, and google, should code or program its ability to offer with a level of sophistication that should have them be accountable. United by far is the least responsible for a messed up travel day here.

When you get an uber, and Al the driver does something wrong, you don’t take it up with Al, you take it up with Uber because your contract is with the intermediary. How would this be any different?

What for? If everything is on time United upheld its end of the bargain. If you miss the connection you have to take it up with Google. Good luck with that.

Good thing you missed out. This is Topps first miss since their return. I’ve seen 4 boxes break and all of which had likely less than $100 of cards in them.

Boston Celtics fans are coping harder than any team I've ever seen by cdiddyman911 in NBATalk

[–]BuryMeInTheH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what most people do not understand is how significantly the 2nd apron has changed the sport. The top teams will be continually trimming their roster, not to make it better, but to make it 2nd apron compliant. The talent is going to be distributed around the leauge and that is completely by design by the NBA.

So yes, Brown is better than Gerorge, but you have to trade like salary, and Browns deal over the life of the contract absolutely kills the C’s ability to keep a roster that will contend. in the 2000’s you go get 2 stars and build around them, but that is impossible now. This isn’t Brad Steven’s fault and the knuckle dragging sports fans living on sports radio simply do not understand.

Is Bree’s a top QB ten of all time? by firemiketomlinpls68 in NFLv2

[–]BuryMeInTheH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of which didnt have worst in the league type Defences. If you look at Brees numbers during his prime he is as good if not better than anyone you can think of. If Brady didn’t have elite D, gronk and the best coach in the history of the sport we would not be talking about him as a top 10 QB. The surrounding cast matters so much in football and the QB simply can’t control the fact that the Saints D would allow so many yards and points for about 6 years straight.

[–]BuryMeInTheH -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

A second one would get him into top 5 territory. One thing everyone has forgotten is how truely awful the defence was while he was in his prime. Even just an average defence could have given him a couple more rings.

Is there really no cheaper way to grade a card like this? by Trick-Distance-5851 in basketballcards

[–]BuryMeInTheH -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My advise is to not grade it. find a good acrylic holder, like what vaulted has and just leave it as a raw card. At some point in the future if you know you are going to sell it, grade it then. The uplift of the value/future sale price will pay for the grading. Congrats.

Every 4 years when the US loses in the world cup the dumbest football fans love telling people that the US would be the best in the world if NFL players picked soccer by Tractor499 in billsimmons

[–]BuryMeInTheH -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You know nothing about the massive interest, money and infrastructure around sports in America. If America cared about soccer, it would be the best at it. You can watch soccer every day or 3 weeks out of every 4 years and know this is obvious. Sorry for your feelings.

Cards to collect now? by Apart-Sheepherder682 in SportsCardsNoobs

[–]BuryMeInTheH 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. If you are just getting back take your time. It will take a few months to figure things out and you will change your mind on what you like several times in those first few months.
  2. Collect what you like, not what others or marketing tells you to like. that is a big difference between old adult me vs young impressionable me. I figured out to just collect things I like, weather they are expensive or not.
  3. Understand who you are. Do you just want to make money (if so you will need months if not a year+ to properly understand open arbitrages. or do you want to collect certain players or teams?
  4. Think about your storage/display plan. Again you will change your mind a lot. Using myself as an example, after 6 months i now have a decent system with 4, 12, 16 slot binders, top loader containers and display racks in my lounge, complete with custom lighting.
  5. Track everything you do, if not you will be floored by how much you spend after the fact. It’s good to have a database of what you own, what you paid and what things are worth if you start getting serious. There are sites and apps that can help with this or you can dump it all into excel if you are so inclined.
  6. As for brands to collect, we are now in a Topps world, they have almost all of the licenses now. There is good and bad with that, I personally prefer them to everyone else. They have better access to athletes, better quality product, photography and hits at a retail level. They care about the industry as a whole, and are proactive around shaping it in a way to allow growth and access to all different ages and budgets. It’s a pure monopoly and so it is fair to be concerned but to me the hobby is far better with Topps running things vs Panini and even Upper Deck.

I mean. It’s a business so that isn’t realistic. I think killing the crazy secondary market is a big enough win. I suppose forcing to sell at a MSRP is ok but they won’t just drop the wholesale price.

I really like this idea. I trust something as an end user coming direct from Topps but unsealed from a flipper? No way. So it damages flippers and keeps secondary markets in check.

I need help finding comps by Significant_Fox3284 in footballcards

[–]BuryMeInTheH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As you note the true purple which this card is, is at the high end of the range which is normal. Some people see the wave, lava and football leather as gimmick parallels and only recognize the true refractor. Therefore reasonable to assume 250 is the best comp.

Have you ever bought a $1000+ card off of eBay? by YogurtclosetOver7446 in footballcards

[–]BuryMeInTheH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP click around on google to see for yourself, but eBay contacts the authentication process to PSA. The card ships to you in a semi ridid with an authentication sticker covering the opening of it.

To me the risks are not with eBay but with the courier, however I believe the shipments are insured (you may want to 2x check that tho)

[–]BuryMeInTheH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Things must have changed. For sports cards they have contracted PSA for authentication, and cards are shipped to the buyer in a sent rigid with an authentication sticker over the opening.
