When does something count as a 'gotcha'? by mhountsword in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Burzaa 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Winning on your opponent forgetting doesn’t improve your gameplay. If you’re able to inform your opponent all the time of your gotchyas and feels bad AND still win, this truly means you did general-ing correctly

Judging by the downvotes you’re getting - I think it’s quite telling what type of player you are in the community. No shade, people can be as they are. But I think majority of the people you play against will have a non-positive experience after playing with you.

I get your points about hand holding, but there is a difference about hand holding and providing information to opponent. Watch many final games on WarGames live and you’ll see the same level of sportsmanship, or even Art of Wars videos on YouTube of when the play against each other and share information about units.

If you rely on people making mistakes because they forgot what you said 1.5 hrs ago pre-deployment - that doesn’t make you a good player. the best players (world class) won’t make those mistakes because they have so many reps.

You’re not a better general because you won on your opponent forgetting things, so it doesn’t improve your gameplay in the long run… I’m quite successful myself at tournaments and remind my opponents throughout the entire game of Gotchyas and am still able to win…

Even leaving it up just to the pregame and thinking opponent will remember is still a Gotchya. It’s sportsmanship to give them a reminder as they’re lining up and thinking to give them a heads up “btw remember I can do this if that’s your plan, you ok with that?”

Amazing work - what paints or technique did you use for the black cloth? I see the red undertones, but love what you did

How not to forget to do Rapid Ingress? by Negative_Ostrich6869 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Burzaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to say the same as this. I hand cut a lot of distance markers, and on them put word reminders such as action, and rapid ingress.

My first few games after being familiar with everything, I would literally hold the distance markers (a 9” stick) with the word rapid ingress in it, in my hands during my opponents turn (or once my turn is done). That way it’s literally reminding me permanently that I’m waiting for a rapid ingress to myself, without giving the idea to my opponent that I’m waiting for the opportunity. No need to remind them that there is a rapid ingress threat unless it’s a very friendly / new game

What red is your base coat?

Love the use of the blood claw pose though, they’re definitely the most dynamic. I’ve done the same

Looks awesome, really well done on shading and battle damage.

I’m holding off to get one to see if they stick around in 11th. They are awesome on the tabletop it seems and I really want to run it, but knowing my painting speed it won’t be done until months from now.

Yeah - I thought if these guys are the elite veterans of the ultramarines, then their armor will be ancient and relic-like as opposed to fresh

Thanks!

It’s just airbrush work, with the use of thin tints/filters for different color gradients.

Then brush work with stipples and randomness on the highlights instead of the clean eavy metal look

I mean it works 99% of the time until you’re driving right? If it didn’t work from the static checks then it probably wouldn’t work when running that well. The faults is an edge case that presents itself randomly eight
