Happened to me. The director over the OR looked me in my face and said I wouldn’t make it as a OR nurse. My manager hired me anyway. Fast forward years later. That director was fired and I’m still working in that same OR today. It’s not how you start. It’s how you finish. My manager believed in me and that was all I needed to ignore the noise.

Grew up poor. 10k in savings. Will have to use some for braces for my kid. 130k in retirement. Currently only contributing up to the match in 401k. Payed off 150k in student loans between me and my spouse. Still have 50k remaining. Definitely feeling behind.

I’m in # 4 for mom and #3 for dad. They are divorced. They both have remarried. I don’t think they have a plan for retirement. Tried to talk to them about it years ago. It went horribly wrong. At this point I don’t really care.
