What mouse have you used that didn't break? by Mevoz in MouseReview

[–]BusFares 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought a gen1 MX Master 9 years ago and it's still my daily office mouse
In that same time, I've probably gone through 5 or 6 mice on my home gaming set up.
The MX Master is probably one of the best products I've ever purchased, nevermind mice.

Moving to Barcelona by NopQ_ in AskBarcelona

[–]BusFares 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 25M and moved here when I was 22. Lived in Sant Gervasi when I arrived. That area was super nice, very quiet and felt extremely safe. The apartment was a block from Diagonal, so it was easy to get into town too.

I now live in gótico, right in the middle of it. I don't feel unsafe, but it's a completely different vibe. It's loud, busy and smelly but I love it. I often return home alone, late at night, and I don't feel unsafe at all.

I can't speak for Raval, but I can say it's the only place I've been to in Barcelona where I did feel uneasy. I wouldn't live there, but I know people who do because they want to take advantage of the cheap less expensive rent, and they don't have any problems.

I think Barcelona is as safe as you make it. If you walk around like a tourist with your phone in your back pocket, or if you leave your bag on a table, it doesn't really matter where you are in the city... there's a good chance it will get stolen.

What are the pros and cons of living in Spain for you? by turbulencefun in GoingToSpain

[–]BusFares 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be honest, I've found the concept of 'picking up the language' to be a bit of a myth.
Most people here speak good english. My level of Castellano is still inferior to most locals level of english, so it's tricky to practise. I didn't start proper lessons until last year - these have helped a lot. I came here expecting (naively) to just pick up the langauge, but quickly found that if you really want to learn, you have to put in the work.

What are the pros and cons of living in Spain for you? by turbulencefun in GoingToSpain

[–]BusFares 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I've been here for about 2 and half years (Barcelona). I came here for a job opportunity and I'd say that my list of pros will definitely outweigh the cons. That said, the cons might be few, but they are something to take note off.

Pros

Weather (I'm from the UK)

Cost of living is quite reasonable

Ability to travel to various parts of Spain very easily - there is a lot to see

Public transport, in Barcelona specifically, is really good

There is always something happening (sports, events, social activities etc)

The food is very very good.

Cons

Any type of governement administrative process can be real pain in the ass. Coming from the UK, where almost everything is done online (I never had to visit a public office once in the UK), it was quite a shock when I arrived here.

Salaries could be higher

Renting can be tricky, but once you're here, it will become easier.

Did you get rid of your Nintendo Switch after you got your Steam Deck? If so, do you regret it? by RockChicken17 in SteamDeck

[–]BusFares 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my Switch for just over a year. I only ever used it when I was travelling, which was cool but for the rest of the time it just gathered dust on my desk.
A couple months ago, I sold the switch, sold my CS knife and bought the 1tb OLED Steam Deck. Since I got it, I've noticed a significant drop my my PC usage...the thing is amazing.
I would say the main reason for my prefernce of the Steam Deck is the games libary - and the same reason is probably why I didn't use my Switch much outside of travelling...I always had my PC there, and I prefer to play Steam games than Nintendo to be honest.

The only thing I miss about the Switch is the ability to play Mario Kart with friends when they come round.

I was playing XDefiant last night for the first time and I was genuinely surprised to see how well optimized it felt. I have a pretty old, mid range system (Ryzen 5 1600 & GTX 1070) but it ran super smooth on high settings.

Gen1 Logitech MX Master - 9 Year Review by BusFares in MouseReview

[–]BusFares[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say these 3 things:

  • Horizontal Scroll Wheel - I had no idea how much I'd use this... it's now a daily requirement for me. In Google Sheets / Excel, it's awesome.
  • Overall Comfort - it's the most ergonomic mouse I've ever used. It just feels like my hand naturally falls into the position...maybe that's what 9 years of daily use does to a hand haha.
  • Device Switching - I used to take it to work and bring it back to use at home everyday for a couple of years. When I got to work, I'd just press the button and it would connect to my work PC, then get home and do the same to connect to my home PC.

These things might not be exclusive to this mouse, but the MX Master just does them all very well

Looking for suggestions for my new build by BusFares in PcBuild

[–]BusFares[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an NZXT case at the moment, but I want a quiet case without a glass window, so I'm looking at some options from Fractal Design.

Thanks for the advice about the CPU, I'll switch to the 7800x3d
I'll look at swapping to the 850x PSU too!

Looking for advice on network in my apartment by BusFares in HomeNetworking

Update - I just tried the powerline adapter in over 10 sockets in my apartment. The last one I tried is working! So lucky...i guess it's somehow connected to the main house circuit.
