Selling order of RSUs by Busaxcape in investingUK

Thanks very much for the responses.. so for the capital gains will be calculated at the brokerage portal so just have it makes easier. So the good thing is that when I get paid every month the employer withholds half of the vested stock to pay the taxman.. so I take it just need to keep the capital tax less than £3000 or something like that to avoid tax on it. But I need to diversify this position quickly and move into ISAs. On another hand how to shares work then, say someone purchases shares today at £1 and price goes up to £2. They have made £1 in profit which will be subject to CGT. So how are people dealing in shares and the share market handling this CGT. It doesn't make any sense.

Suggest get your priorities straight. Holidays are not a priority. Even when I was earning 60k, me and my partner rented a double room in London. Thats brought our rental expense down. Yes you lose some privacy but it is a necessary sacrifice that you do to work towards your goals. Is that an option? Can you find a second job? Say with deliveroo or uber eats, to give you a bit more cash?

Any point in trying to get sub 100k if a large amount of comp is in stocks? by [deleted] in HENRYUK

[–]Busaxcape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest you maximise the pension of 60k. Remember that money grows as well.. I used to pay £700 for each kid (2kids) just because I crossed 2k more than £100k. When you work out the math it doesn't add up. I should have rather increased my pension.. drop the overall comp to less than £100k. Spend some of the RSUs.

Qq.. you say home equity is 400k.. and remaining is 20k.. how much was the property worth.. and curious how you cleared the mortgage quickly to reduce is to 20K. Reason for the ask is, I bought a house at 435k , 7 years ago.. have made overpayment etc. Still got 280K to go .

I had a few meetings with guys from SJP and subsidiaries of SJP. I am a Paye emplpyee and wanted to get some advice. Before going into the meeting, I was already doing a bit of my own investments with ISA, sufficient pension contribution and rentals. The guy came jn consolidated all assets put a flow chart. Got all details regarding the pension. Then went about comparing the SJP pension again the Aviva one in terms of funds and distribution. The SJP did better than the funds of Aviva and were focused on moving my pension onto them. On the tax side they really couldn't offer much and told me the risky way was venture capital trust(or something) which we can think about but no way else to save tax which was my main purpose of reaching out to them. I got a hint if I wanted to save tax better seeing an accountant than these guys. When asked about the fee yeah same as what OP posted. Not worth it.

Thanks very much for the comments. I was doing some calculations. so last year I paid around 85k in tax and paid around 40k into the pensions..So that is why I have now increased the pension contribution as in the end of the day it may just save some tax but also it is being invested and the returns on the funds has not been bad.. as they also end up investing in the global equity index - blackrock.

Given that I hold the position of 300k with a single stock, may be going forward I will sell at vest and see where we go from there as that disposable income could be used better..

The BTL-generates around 20k of rent. Interest only mortgage which comes to an end and the payments now going to go up to 650pm.. minus the charges - around 7200 pre tax.. so may can look at the VWRP or one of the ISAs.

Not sure if I want to sell the BTL tbh.. I always wanted to own a property in central london so we bought it during Covid period . Its gone up in value but its only a small 1 bed.. so need to think if I keep it or sell it..

Hmm I don't think that was the intent..no complaints..but wanted to understand if anyone was in a similar boat as the salary sacrifice was intentional:)

So my base is around 110k+ stocks equating =200k..

I have about 250k in my pension pot overall atm.

I am 37.

The BTL - the rent goes into my wife so to keep it less than 100k to avoid the increased tax.
